刘森记面家 (English name: Lau Sum Kee Noodle ) is on of the last of the dying art of making noodles but use of the bamboo stick. The noodle shop has been here since the 50s and it's still making these noodles by going up and down on that stick. It's hard work and there aren't that many left.  It's a place that is worth a try and Michelin agreed, giving i a Bib Gourmand in this Michelin guide book.Lau Sum Kee has three locations but  I tend to like this one. Its less crowded as it's not the one listed

Lau Sum Kee has three locations but  I tend to like this one. Its less crowded as it's not the one listed in the Michelin Guide. But it still offers the same bowl of noodles. This is also the original shop. It's nothing fancy. Just some cramped seating on stools. But it's really all about the food.

This particular branch was visited by the fantastic Anthony Bourdain!

They have a jar of pickled daikon. It's top notch. Crunchy, sour with  bit of kick from the pickled peppers added in.

I had a bowl of wonton noodles ($34). The soup wasn't as clear as other places but it was packed with the flavor of shrimp. The wonton noodles were not as springy as others as well. A bit more soft but it wasn't over cooked. The wontons were divine. A good balance of pork meat to shrimp. The wrapping was thin and held together well. But for a bowl of wonton noodles, I realize how much I miss Wing Wah that closed last year. It was truly one of the best.

Boyfriend had the beef brisket and shrimp roe dry tossed noodles ($46). When they put this plate down, you get a huge whiff of the shrimp roe. It was so strong! And so much was added! The soup here was much better than the one I had in my bowl of noodles. It was much more clear and more stronger in flavor. The beef tendon was moist and tender. The noodles here were much better. Springy and had a nice bite.

I found the tossed noodles to be far more excellent than the soup noodles I got. I'm unsure if it was an off day or it was getting late. I found it was much better before. Perhaps they just opened up too many branches and consistency is now off?
