Oysters, Portobello, Pasta, Gelato for July 4th

It was July 4th, and I wanted to go out even though I'm in Hong Kong, and, of course, I dragged my godbro XO along.  We decided to go to this restaurant in Tin Hau which offered $10 oysters.The restaurant is called Wooden House, and it's located in AIA building.  I took a taxi to AIA building and didn't see the restaurant up front.  The restaurant was actually located at the back of the building with the entrance on another street.There was a sign by the door promoting a 20% off discount for tak

 There was a sign by the door promoting a 20% off discount for takeaway orders.  If I lived in the area, this would be an enticing offer!

 The tables in the restaurant were not crammed at all, and the ceiling was pretty high, so it felt quite spacious.

 The restaurant was sold out of the $10 oysters by the time we got there! So, we decided to order some Coffin Bay oysters instead.  We also ordered an appetizer and a dessert to share, and I ordered a pasta for myself.

 Grigliato di Portobello--Grilled Portobello, Garlic, Herb, Soft Boiled Egg, Aioli ($78): The soft boiled egg was cooked just right, where the yolk oozed out beautifully when we cut into the egg.  The portobello had a meaty bite and was incredibly juicy.  The mushroom and the egg paired delightfully with the salad greens.

 Spaghetti alla Carbonara--Pecorino Brunelli Cheese, Bacon, Black Pepper, Organic Eggs ($138): The pasta dish was very creamy and quite rich with the copious amount of cheese in it! If you love creamy cheesy dishes, you got to try this pasta!  The spaghetti felt a little overcooked. When the chef came out to greet the guests, he told us that the spaghetti is a fresh pasta imported from Italy, and he had to adjust the doneness of the spaghetti to suit patrons who didn't prefer the al dente texture.

 Waffle with Gelato ($58): The Belgian waffle is served with your choice of gelato flavor.  The gelato is made in-house, and when I heard peach in the list of flavors, I went straight for it! The waffle was warm and crispy, and the peach gelato had a fresh delightful peach flavor without being overly sweet!  

Wooden House is a little Italian gem hidden in Tin Hau that serves some quality Italian dishes and fresh oysters!  I hope I can try their $10 oysters when I visit again!
