I went there around 12nn, curious to see if the eggs Benedict on their menu would be good (as I had disappointments in the past with that dish in other restaurants) and hoping to enjoy their sunny terrasse.Things started off bad when I learned said terrasse was only for take away orders with no dine-in service. So I sat inside, looking at that beautifully empty terrasse. I tried to order through their gimmicky qr code but my order wouldn't go through so I had to call in a waiter to ask for help.
Things started off bad when I learned said terrasse was only for take away orders with no dine-in service. So I sat inside, looking at that beautifully empty terrasse. I tried to order through their gimmicky qr code but my order wouldn't go through so I had to call in a waiter to ask for help. He apologized profusely while explaining that their “all day” menu was not available until 1pm so I could only order from their lunch set. He nicely offered to take my order himself (I appreciated as I was considering walking out at that point). I ordered the carbonara pasta with the daily soup. Starter was a green salad, nicely plated and properly seasoned but really just green leaves with 3 slices of radish and half a cherry tomatoe. In retrospect, the butternut soup was the highlight of my meal. It was rich and tasteful, with hints of pinenuts and crunchy bits, very well made.
Then came the “carbonara”. The pasta itself was well cooked, al-dente, but what a sorry excuse for a carbonara it is! The dish is really just spaghetti with a poached egg and a few super small bits of overcooked parma ham (or at least I guess that's what it is, either that or overcooked bacon, honestly the size of the bits make it impossible to tell for sure). It's not a bad dish, the poached egg does a great sauce, but that's definitely not a carbonara dish.
I finished with a black coffee that was ok.
Overall very disappointed in this restaurant but compliments to the staff, very professional and helpful.
