Came here for a weekend lunch as we noticed they were one of the few restaurants in Kennedy Town serving oysters and did not have a line of patrons waiting outside, like Catch. Unfortunately, this was a huge mistake.
Originally there was no seats, we were told to come back at a later time and the staff didn't bother to take our names or information. We returned after about 20 minutes and waited 5-10 minutes for our table.

We came here during the period the social distancing measures were effective in HK, meaning the restaurant had to keep each of the tables separated by at least 1.5 meters. I can assuredly say that Fishsteria did not fully comply with these rules, in particular, another gentleman was seating directly behind me within 1 meter.

There was, at the time, only 2 available tables--an 8 person table, for which the restaurant blocked off 6 seats, making a table for 2; and a 4 person table to the side. As the 4 person table was farther from the other tables, we requested the server to seat us at the 4 person table. She refused our request and after our continued request for an explanation, rudely and brusquely referred us to the manager.

The manager advised us that our 8 person table was the only table they could seat us at. This struck me as an odd arrangement, but the manager thought that that allowed them to keep certain other tables at a 1.5 meter distance (which, as we've established above, did not). Despite understanding that the manager felt the need to defend the actions of his staff, he came off bad-tempered and curmudgeonly and made us, the customers, feel as if he was bullying us into acceptance.

Not wanting to cause any further fuss and too hungry to find another restaurant, we let the matter go. In the end, the restaurant had plenty of free tables to accomodate us throughout our dining time, and I feel that the manager and staff could have handling our request with more grace.

As to the food, we ordered a half-dozen Ostra Regal oysters (around $50 per piece) and two of the "Weekend Midday Feasts" ($188 per person). The oysters were relatively, but not extremely, fresh. We ordered the Seafood Soup (+$28) and Mixed Seafood Ceviche (+$28); unfortunately the prawns, mussels, calamari were bland and tasteless, mitigated only by the heavily seasoned soup and sauce, respectively. For main course, we ordered the sauteed prawn and squid, and the smoked salmon maccheroni. The sauteed prawn & squid were essentially the same dish with the same flavor profile as the mixed seafood ceviche and we were absolutely and thoroughly unimpressed. The smoked salmon maccheroni was only good in comparison to the sauteed prawn & squid, but was not impressive either.

Overall, a mediocre lunch made worse by poor service and not a good price. Both my friend and I even had a light case of diarrhea on the same night, however I won't be pointing any fingers. The single redeeming factor is the restaurant faces the park, which is nice on the weekend. Without serious improvements in service and food quality, I would not recommend this restaurant at all. I won't be coming back, nor visiting their Wanchai branch.
