came here for lunch on saturday - unlike some restaurants, set lunches are also served on saturdays.ordered 2 sets for myself:1. ox tongue curry ($53) : served in a pot. sauce is thick, not very spicy; the kind that is sold in blocks. ithe ox tongue is very smooth and tender but there is definitely a lack of vegetables - the beef was accompanied by 2 chunks of carrots. disappointing. 2. eel with egg on rice ($57) : eel is mostly the skin of the fish and is quite fatty; didn't have much flesh. en

1. ox tongue curry ($53) : served in a pot. sauce is thick, not very spicy; the kind that is sold in blocks. ithe ox tongue is very smooth and tender but there is definitely a lack of vegetables - the beef was accompanied by 2 chunks of carrots. disappointing.
2. eel with egg on rice ($57) : eel is mostly the skin of the fish and is quite fatty; didn't have much flesh. enjoyed the sauteed onions though but it was very limited.
3. the salads that came with the sets had thousand island dressing! i was surprised; isn't this a japanese restaurant? or maybe it's a modern japanese eatery...
4. miso soup had bits of silken tofu and laver in it which is good and it wasn't overly salty.
5. staff was not attentive, and they didn't seem very friendly when i asked for a refill for my water.
6. dessert was 2 pieces of mini mochi ice cream with a chocolate sauce center - the one from kowloon dairy.
portions are adequate, was given a lot of rice to go with my ox tongue curry.
don't recommend this restaurant and i won't go again. lots more better places in the area, even for japanese.
as for the price - it is cheap but i would rather...cook myself. or just grab a sandwich somewhere. i'd say a microwave meal is better than this.
