I had dinner there a couple weeks ago with my family, my wife chose this place because she's been to their G.O.D. shop and found it ok.Well, first of all, every cup had funny smell, it was probably because they left their cups up side down on a smelly cloth during drying. Anyway, I told the young waitress, she was kind of " ah..ah.." and walked away. Well, first of all, every cup had funny smell, it was probably because they left their cups up side down on a smelly cloth during drying. Anyway, I told the young waitress, she was kind of " ah..ah.." and walked away.
The food was very very disappointing, most of the dishes tasted very bland.
The worst was the Prawn with Egg Yolk, the shell were left on, so after you removed the shell, the prawn meat was tasteless, we didn't finish this expensive dish simply because the meat was powder-like, and the chef did not remove the intestine, it was disgusting, I mean rule no. 1 to cook prawn or shrimp is to remove the intestine. I told the young waitress, this time she conveyed the message to the captain , he suggested to change the dish for us, some consolation, but since the prawn didn't taste any good, so we just left it and ask him to tell the chef that the prawns were poorly done.
Other dishes we ordered including the spicy chicken, which was bland meat with a funny mixture of so called sichuan sauces, the tofu which was ok, the chewy turnip cake ......and the wintermelon with baby spinach in concentrated broth, which turned out to be the best simple dish of the evening.
It is obvious that the owner and the chef would like to market their food with some gimmick, traditional chinese with asian flavour, but it just does not work, the added flavour made most dishes tasted obscure and undefined. Eg, prawn with egg yolk is such a simple dish, why put satay sauce in it, the point in cooking is to bring out the flavour of the food, not to make a scene with it for the sake of showing off!
