So after some basketball with friends at the Braemar Hill courts we were hungry and decided to get some hot pot at Glasshouse. I had done some research beforehand and with its favorable reviews and close proximity to the basketball courts (2 minute walk) it was a no brainer. Environment - I have to agree with an earlier review that this is one of the cleanest places I've ever had hot pot at in HK. Place was comfortable and felt especially spacious due to its high ceilings. I really like how it had floor to ceiling glass windows all around (hence the name Glasshouse).
Service: This is where they need to do a little more work in. Although the food arrived quite quickly and there were no missed orders I have 2 main issues with the service at Glasshouse:
1) We were the only table with customers at the time (we started eating at 9:30/10PM) and I felt the waiters/waitresses never really stopped by our table to see if we need anything during the meal. I wouldn't say they were ignoring our table but we weren't getting much attention.
2) When I finally flagged down a waiter for some ice water he forgot the order so I asked again 5-7 minutes later (and got it relatively quick). When we were paying the bill I asked the waitress for another glass of ice water and they completely forgot again. Keep in mind, we were the only customers at the restaurant.
Food: Honestly, there was a little too much food to remember from our hot pot dinner but I'll try to list everything:
Soup base - We just ordered the clear soup base. After eating eveything I drank a bit of the soup and it was quite tasty. Didn't seem like there was much MSG.
Condiments/spices - We had 8 types of condiments. A good mix but I probably would have preferred some spicy options (spiciest they had was sliced chili peppers). Choices were still quite decent. We also had to option of putting a raw egg into our condiment mix which I love.
Beef - There was actually quite a big portion and the beef was pretty fresh. Sliced pretty thinly so they cooked uber quick. Good.
Multi-ball platter - There were beef/pork/fish balls. All were pretty fresh and tasty. Size wise I think just right since they sat in our little cooking spoon and didn't get lost in the soup. My favorite from the night.
Fish - Don't remember what kind of fish it was except that it was a type of white fish. Decent but the meat did fall apart when after you cooked it for a short time. Tasted decent but just the fact it fell apart I feel I need to deduct some points.
Pork dumplings - I always liked dumplings so I knew I was going to like this.
Tofu - Decent but I thought the pieces were a little on the big side.
Snow Pea Shoots (豆苗) - I quite liked these in the hot pot
Udon Noodles - Didn't want to waste the broth so the udon noodles were a nice way to end the meal
Overall I thought the food was of good quality and reasonably priced. Place was as I said quite comfortable for a hot pot place but definitely they need to work on their service a little.
