From the moment you walk into the building, you walk up a flight of stairs and are happily greeted by the security guard who wishes you well on your way up. As you walk into the restaurant, it feels as though you are no longer in Hong Kong. Though the décor is dark, you are welcomed by the aroma of the food and the sounds of the staff's best music mix. Seems almost too familiar, right? What's not familiar is the personal touches.
The staff are all too happy but to accommodate the needs of their customers; from combining two tables for a family of four, to providing options as to where to sit while honestly sharing the number of guests that are expected to come and making sure that customers are satisfied and safe - always making sure that when the food on the plate is done, the masks must go on. More importantly, the staff was more than happy to provide extra assistance to take our orders on top of our original buffet plan.
While there were many options of delicious food, the buffet drinks were limited. Fortunately, the a la carte menu is available for ordering (check out their discount offers when ordering from the menu). Although I know that masala tea would be available, I was curious about their drinks menu. Sure enough, they have a variety of juices, hot and iced beverages to choose from. As tempted as I was, I only ordered a hot cup of masala tea and coffee, which arrived just as soon as we were done eating (coincidence? intentional? either way, perfect timing!)
Despite this being my first time to try Rang Mahal, this place has always had a special place in my family's heart. My parents would come here for lunch during the weekdays. With 30+ years in the marriage bank, they are always looking to find a nice place for a date. This absolutely makes it to the top of their list. So, couples/families young or old, spare yourselves the tedious task of deciding where to go, because from the comfort of the décor (especially today, of all days, a public holiday), the friendliness of the staff and the flavorful dishes, it's hard not to fall in love (as in love na love!) with this place.
