Recommended Chef, Awesome Food!

Godbro XO found out that a chef that his family likes has opened his own restaurant, Katsuhachi, in Circle Tower!  My godfather is on a restricted diet ordered by his doctor, so he doesn't want to waste his quota on mediocre restaurants, so he decided to let XO and I check out the chef's new restaurant and report back to him!The restaurant is split on to two levels--on the 10th floor of the building is the teppanyaki and yakitori restaurant and on the 11th floor is the isakaya.  The restaurant is split on to two levels--on the 10th floor of the building is the teppanyaki and yakitori restaurant and on the 11th floor is the isakaya. XO arrived before me, and he checked out both levels and settled on the 10th floor because it's more brightly-lit, and the sofa seating looked more comfortable.

 The restaurant had some posters hanging on the walls--some were promotional posters, and others were themed posters.

 The restaurant had a vast collection of sakes and alcoholic beverages that are displayed in the refrigerator, and if you bring your own sake, they will refrigerate it for you.

 Other than the posters, there were also two chalk boards on the wall that had the chef's specials menu on them.

 The chef was very excited to see XO, and he said that since he hasn't seen XO for so long, they must have a drink together!  So, I was the lucky one who got to have some sake because of XO!

 The server gave us an ice bucket with a small sake bottle in it and refrigerated the rest of our bottle of Sanka.

 After seeing my dainty pink cherry nails, the server gave us a couple bunny sake cups to go with my silly nails!

 Kimuchi: I really liked this kimuchi because it's not too spicy and had a sweeter flavor than other kimchis!  It was very appetizing, and XO and I couldn't stop eating it!

 Crab Meat and Crab Mustard Toast: The crab mixture consisted of shredded crab meat and crab mustard, and it tasted really fresh with an ocean-like salinity.  The crispy toast served as a great vehicle for the heavy creamy crab mixture.

 Sashimi Platter:  The platter was plated like a beautiful riverscape with an ika waterfall.  The sashimi platter consisted of light-colored fishes--Akayagara, Hokkigai, and Ika, along with an uni soy sauce.

 Foie Gras Toast: A lot of places screw up seared foie gras by overcooking it, undercooking it, or not removing the sinew probably, but this was absolutely not the case here!

 The foie gras was seared perfectly with a nice caramelized crust and soft and tender insides!  The drizzle of balsamic vinegar helped to balance out the heaviness of the foie gras!  This foie gras toast is one of the best I've had at Japanese restaurants!

 Ox Tongue with Bean Sprouts: I'm usually not a huge fan of ox tongue at yakitori places because the ox tongue can be very tough.  However, this ox tongue's texture was just right, where I could chew through it in the first bite!

 The bean sprouts in the dish were very crunchy as well and didn't have the muddy flavor that can be found in bean sprouts if not prepared properly.

 Clam with Kimuchi: Since we loved the kimuchi, the clams prepared with kimuchi tasted just as awesome!  I never thought of having clams with kimchi, but the kimchi matched very well with the clams!

 Fried Noodles: After the numerous courses, the chef came over to check on us, and we were pretty full already, but, then, the chef asked if I wanted a small portion of fried noodles and my eyes lit up!  So, he made me this beautiful plate of fried noodles!

 The cheese rice cake had a light crispy crust and soft mushy inside.  The cheese filling was a little sweet because of the rice cake, and it was warm and gooey!  YUM! 


Our meal was so delicious at Katsuhachi that we made a reservation right away to come back with my godparents and my brother!  The following dishes are from the second meal when we came back the following week!

 The food was just as delicious when we came back the following week!  Thanks to XO's curiosity, we were able to have two wonderful meals at Katsuhachi by the chef who was highly recommended by my godfamily!
