It was a Monday at 19:30 and I was able to be seated immediately. The waiter, was very friendly and helped guide me through the menu, even without me asking.I went with their most popular claypot rice dish the eel in black bean sauce. With the meal you get soup and vegetables.The soup is brought out minutes after you order. The soup itself is light, composed of pork bones, cabbage, and potatoes. The soup is brought out minutes after you order. The soup itself is light, composed of pork bones, cabbage, and potatoes.
The claypot came out about 5 minutes later, it was just enough time for me to finish the soup. When the soup comes out you also get your steamed vegetables.
The waiter helped guide me by checking on the rice, removing the lid, adding soy sauce, putting the lid back on and letting me know the rice needed another minute before I should eat.
Eel in black bean sauce claypot: Wow, so many textures going on at once. You get the crunchy rice that was against the pot, the fluffy rice in the middle, and the tender eel. Not to mention the flavors, the eel was cooked to a tender perfection. The sweet, salty, and umami rich black bean sauce soaked into the rice, coats the eel, and is like heaven. I only wish I would have had a little more black bean sauce with my dish to make it perfect.
