With the French windows overlooking Tung Chung, it would have been nice if there was a sea view - I suppose one couldn't have everything one wished for. This turned out to be a satisfying dinner with good service at a bargain - what more could one ask for?
The bread came straight from the oven and was warm and fresh, it went well with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Next came the appetizers - the salad with tomato and mozzarella cheese sprinkled with vinaigrette was light and spritely. They almost forgot to serve the steak tartare but rectified their error at once upon reminding. It was slightly salty and sour - likely due to vinegar added - and did not have that very hateful raw consistency which made some dishes of this genre unpalatable. The accompanying crispy nutty bread made a perfect match. If you like olives, you must savour the very authentic ones they provided.
The Canadian sirloin steak was slightly tough on the cut but not so in the core. However, but chef was slightly too heavy-handed with the salt. The layered cream potato was mushy and easy on the mouth. I believed the foie gras was duck liver (not specified) but it was smooth and nice all the same. Very fresh green string beans.
The affogato as a signature dessert dish was most pleasing in its presentation. It was kept iced and the espresso grew sweeter with each mouthful of vanilla ice cream.
This place is recommended for the generous portions, the reasonable prices and the nice service.
