My girl friend's German fiance is in town, so we decided to check out this place. The restaurant itself is pretty small, they only have a table for 6, two tables for 4 and another table for 2, plus a bar. As soon as you walked in, you could already find some regular customers here drinking beer. We ordered the German beer Warsteiner. It is only $35 during happy hour period, but $52 for normal hours, I think that is pretty expensive, so it's better to come here before 8pm when the happy hour session closed. The beer tastes really good, if you like German beer, but if you are a Heineken or Corona fan, you might find it a little too strong.
For the food, we followed most of people's recomendations and ordered:
- Deep fried mushroom: this is an average dish compared to the other very brilliant dishes, the mushrooms are huge in size
- Raclette cheese: this is a MUST order, very delicious melted cheese, served with boiled potatoes and salad
- Sausage platter (large): very authentic German style, they will give you different kinds of mustard right from the start, I am pretty satisfied that they also have the honey mustard, which they usually serve with sausages in Germany
- Schweizer wurstsalat: the salad itself is alright, but it is strange that it comes after all the hot dishes
- Pork Knuckle: never tried this before in anywhere, I personally think it's too salty, but it's really crispy, so I guess it's good
- Schnitzel in mushroom sauce: this one is very good, the schnitzel is so much better than the one in Mozart Stub'n, next time should try the most traditional style - Veal Schnitzel
- Fried chicken: it's not so much a German-specific dish, but it tastes really good, the meat is very tender still, I like it so much that I even eat the skin (normally I don't, coz it's too fat), highly recommended
Overall, I am very satisfied with the food and service. It's a nice surprise that their menu comes in German and English. I would say the price is reasonable, but it's not very cheap. I like this place quite a lot, will definitely come back.
