It was such an irresistible temptation when I found this FB post - "An Enchanting Oasis" tea set offered by DK Cuppa Tea. Those cat-shaped cookie, chocolate and cupcakes are just so cute. Being an animal lover, I couldn’t wait to be there.

For a price of $298 per person, pricing of this Tea Set is as expensive as five-star hotels. There is neither luxury deco nor 5-star service here, but it is the interesting experience that counts. It is more than “dinning with fun”, we are “dinning with learning/therapy”. Honestly speaking, those little games are very simple. But I think the objective is like team building exercise at work, remind us important value that we might have forgotten due to busy life.

There are 2 outlets of DK Cuppa Tea, I came to the one at Soho this time. It is a small shop primarily aims for sales of aromatherapy products and service; such as essential oil, massage and relaxation learning lessons. However, it got a few small tables for drinks and tea set. Be my guess, there were originally set up for customers to enjoy healthy drink after taking massage or lessons.

Introduction of "Peaceful Blend" essential oil

Upon arrival, we were first awakened by a lovely aroma. It was mild and just right as at home. An introductory setting was already placed on table. This included a white mug with a small butterfly card on top, a basket of flower with essential oil, a card to explain the oil “Peaceful Blend”, a set of magic card and a pen. The mug was carved with a cat face and can also be used as candle stand.

While we were still playing with the mug and flower, our tea in a coffer jar was ready to service. Color was dark and smell berry. It was an organic herb tea from New York, ingredients include blueberry, raspberry and black currant. That was why it tasted a bit sweet and sour but pretty refreshing. I loved this smell. This tea also helped digestion.

Here she came, Kat Lai, owner of this DK aromatherapy. We were lucky to have her serving us all games on the run. I particularly liked her great smile. Well, she told us that we got to work before enjoyment of food.

Game #1:Magic card

It was like fortune telling. By picking a card from six randomly, we were supposed to find out what we needed the most at this moment. I got a card names “Possibility”. Essential oil “Lemongrass” would facilitate me on identifying possibility. She then sprayed Lemongrass oil on my hand. It smelt stimulating no matter what!

Game #2: Write down your dream

It was so true that Kat said: “we all have dreams but seldom wrote it down”. Why is it important to have dreams written down? I think. You will take it more seriously. Dreams seldom come true without hard work and plans!

I was told to write down my dream with “possibility” on the butterfly card and posted it on the dream wall in shop. It was indeed a simple but stimulating lesson. It reminded me meaning of life!

Game #3: Hiding cat

Kat asked us to remember our cards as she would hide it in the Tea Set. There was a gift from this treasure hunt if we took a picture with the card and share to Facebook. Winning gift is due purpose mug. Yeh! It is so simple, why not!

WOW! It was unbelievable after we opened the basket. Those savory and sweets were mostly cat shaped. It was just like a group of kittens in a garden. Everything in the basket was neat and tidy. Paper plates, forks and tea spoons were fixed on back cover. Savory and sweets were in the storage area.

The full tray with food can be taken out easily for picture and eating. Each food item was mini and delicate; as a piece of art; hand-made with creativity and care.

One more game: Saving a Cat & Lobster Pancakes

While I thought I was ready to eat, there was one more game. We were asked to check on the pancakes. With imagination, there were 2 cats around pancakes. The small white cat climbing on the pancake was so happy that she was like “meowing” at us. On the other hand, a yellow cat was crying as she was pressed by a heavy pancake.

Both cats are made of delicacy. I also found cutely cat paw printed in the pancake. It was nothing more than cheer by having such playful thoughts.

How to save the cat? Release the cat from the pancake and then replaced by a piece of lobster meat. Now, we got a free & happy cat cookie and a lobster pancakes. What a lovely idea!

Lobster pancake taste good although not excellent. Texture of pancake was lovely soft and light; lobster was plentiful and fresh; and they were seasoned by a basic salad sauce; although simple but just got the right balance.

The yellow cat cookie looks cute. I put it on my paper plate. It looked like the cat was sun bathing. It was just so great after release!! Unfortunately, it is a milky crunchy cookie. Her fate ended up in my stomach.

The white little was so lively that I just couldn’t eat it immediately. I brought it home. I later found she was tasted a bit sweet with more sugar then the other one. I believe sugar helped to stable the shape as it was more 3-D then the lying one.

Lobster bisque

Presented as a cocktail, our lobster bisque was served in red wine glasses, finalized by extra cream to enhance appearance. It was in French style, cream based, strong lobster favor, smooth in texture, with tiny lobster meat in the soup, this was just too tasteful. With also strong after taste, nobody would have any complaint.

Thick layer of foie gras with mixed nuts; almond and sunflower seeds; on a piece of salty biscuit was another perfect match.

Foie gras was always fatty and smooth, crunchy nuts & biscuit added variety to our palate. Slight salty favor by the biscuit enhanced overall taste.

Sausage rolls were relatively ordinary when compared with others; and unfortunately cold after sitting for a while. The rolls were still air-filled so pastry work was good. The pork sausage was soft and relatively juicy; neither spicy nor over-salty. We have ketchup from England as dip and it matched. We should have asked the staff to re-heat it for us for better taste.

I was so happy to find English scone that, in my opinion, is the spirit of English afternoon tea. However, I liked the jam more than the scone itself. The scone was not bad but not one of the best I have ever. It was slightly crispy on the surface and slightly moist inside; but cold after sitting for some time. I loved the jam with apricot favor; aroma is natural and not over-sweetened.

Time for sweets:

Profiteroles – vanilla ice-cream and chocolate

Profiterole is always one of my favorite deserts. It does not matter whether it is filled with ice-cream or chocolate. I was lucky to have both today.

I liked them extremely soft and immediately melt in mouth, fantastic satisfaction from the swallowing experience that was too hard to explain in words. Though, I preferred them to have more fillings if possible.

The playful cat on top was the highlight. These cats were also made of butter cookie, dry and crunchy with bite; touch up by brown line look like smiling cats. Cupcake tasted alright; the green tea cream was smooth and not over sweet. This was crucial as lots of cupcakes were too sweet.

I liked both muffins as they have extra filling inside.

Chocolate and lemon muffins were filled with chocolate mousse and chopped lemon respectively. The fills successfully add moist to the muffin so enhance taste. Lemon fillings were lovely sour, not excessive.

This square brown cake was pretty eye catching, partly because it was printed with a hello kitty face. It tasted good with a well balance of houjicha and cheese, none of them override the other. Texture was smooth and high density so quite stuffing.

Cat shaped cookie and Macaron, Cat Paw marked chocolate were all very cute. We ate them with fun more than anything. They were crunchy and tasteful, make of good quality ingredient.

Last but not the least, they were all either filled or added with a layer of green tea.

We were impressed by the creativity and details of "An Enchanting Oasis" tea set. Overall experience was unusual and definitely worthwhile to try.

A prefect Afternoon Tea fits for a nice day with good friend. We have a great day!!
