Although I work in Central but I have never been to Madison (I went to Bull and Bears more often in the good old days...). I went there with my wife and my little princess to Madison for its famous brunch on 12 August 2007, which was serving at HK$188 for adult and HK$88 for kid. If you pay another HK$100, you could enjoy free flow of bubbly. Unfortunately, I need to drive and I have to give up drinking. I booked a table a day before, specifying that we were having brunch.

The brunch includes a starter platter with assorted appetitzers, of reasonable quality and you could refill once. A bread basket was provided but the bread was cold and hard like stone... For main course, my wife had lamb chop, which was of reasonable quality. I have lobster and eggs benedict, also of reasonable quality. For dessert, it was a dessert buffet, with ordinary cakes, fruits, etc. Nothing special. I expect at least they would provide some cheap ice-cream but no. My little princess had baked macaroni, which was also good but the portion is a bit too big for her, which is 5 years old. In my humble opinion, the food is at most average.

A special feature of the sunday brunch is a kid's corner (located at the Bar at the entrance). It looks great on the brochure at the website (www.madisonshk.com). Unfortunately, it was quite disappointed. The toys there were old and outdated. There was a clown but her only service was to provide pop-corn, marshmallow, balloons, etc. It is not her job to play with kids. There were some inflated toys at the kid's corner, which were collapsed probably because of leakage. No one tried to fix it. I have to blow them back up and the kids were really happy to see them up again. The floor of the kid's corner was full of pop-corn and no one cleaned it. Anyway, the kids were having fun there.

The service was horrible. My family was the only Chinese looking and speaking local family in the restaurant (although my whole family speaks reasonably good English, and my little princess has been in international school since kindergarten). Or perhaps I was not dressed up to the Sunday Brunch. We were received by a Filipino male waiter. We were led to our table, sat down but for more than 10 minutes, we were left there alone. No water, no menu, no attention, no service of any kind. Other expatriates, or non-Chinese speaking guests received extremely well treatment and attention of the serving staff.

I don't think I will patronize this place again.
