Tower 535 finally has some new restaurants popping up. I think it's been open for quite a while and now it's getting more than just offices. 金妹记大排档 (English name: Gold Miu Kee Seafood Stall) is one of these places. Located in the basement area, it serves Hong Kong style dai pai dong food in a nice air conditioned setting with a hip decor.Boyfriend and I came here for lunch as we discovered they offered really good lunch set deals. All sets are under $50 and includes a main, daily soup and drink.
Boyfriend and I came here for lunch as we discovered they offered really good lunch set deals. All sets are under $50 and includes a main, daily soup and drink. There is no 10% service charge as well. Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English. The a la cart menu, however, is in English and Chinese. So, if you really want these cheap deals, then whip out Google Translate.
Before I talk about the food, I want to point out the huge tray that contained napkins, chopsticks, paper straws, spoons and forks. It had everything but wow ... why so big in size?
The daily soup arrived before we even ordered. This was fairly good. A savory soup of pork and winter melon. A bit oily but good none the less.
Boyfriend ordered this: satay stir fried rice noodle ($45). The sauce was rich. The beef was tender. It was fairly good.
I had the shrimp with scrambled egg over rice noodles ($45). There was a lot of shrimp that was very fresh and firm as well. The eggs were very runny and seasoned well.
Overall, the food was quite good. Portion size was generous. Place was clean and prices very cheap. Will definitely be back.
