Today I ordered the Thai Fried Flat Noodle in Gravy with the cold drink, which was a flower tea. The tea was sweet and refreshing.
The noodles arrive quickly, and the first thing that strikes me is that it is a hearty portion served in large soup bowl, as opposed to a plate. It was different, but a great idea because it's always so difficult to scrape up the gloopy sauce properly from a plate. The fried flat rice noodles were full of wok hei, and sat nestled under a thick layer of vegetables, mushrooms, meat and gravy. With each mouthful I dug up, thanks to the bowl configuration, the noodles retained its heat and were wonderfully, evenly coated with the shiny gravy. The gravy itself is rich and meaty in flavour.
You can ask for chilli condiments, which are in a communal tray. They have fresh chilli in vinegar, chilli in fish sauce, and dried chilli powder.
This is a reliable restaurant for no-fuss, easy street thai food. It is humble, comforting and good.
Also, I'll never eat gravy noodles from a plate again if I can help it. Bowl all the way!
