I've frequented Peking Garden here in Mongkok many times, since I make use of the American Express Gourmet Dining discount. Food is generally reasonable (not the best, but not bad) but they're often very short on hands and as a result, some of them don't care much about your needs and wants. We were a table of 8 on this occasion for dinner. We saw the Hangseng card set menu for four people and wanted to order 2 sets. One of the black suited 'managers' placed our order and gave us back a receipt

We were a table of 8 on this occasion for dinner. We saw the Hangseng card set menu for four people and wanted to order 2 sets. One of the black suited 'managers' placed our order and gave us back a receipt with only 1 set. I asked why it was only 1 and only then did they tell me we could only order one set per table. So why didn't the manager tell us this when putting down the order?

We cancelled that set and ordered a la carte. 1 hour and 10 minutes after ordering we were still waiting for the Peking Duck. We're used to it being slow and everyone who frequents this place knows to order right upon being seated. So do take note. They usually advise it to take 45min or more. That said, the patties were nice (soft, thin, and each separated by a piece of paper to ensure they don't stick together). Plenty pieces of duck skin - no skimping there. Peking Duck comes with a second dish, chopped mix of duck and veggies wrapped in lettuce. Around 4 or 5 pieces of lettuce.

It's 9.30pm and they asked us for last orders. We placed orders for dessert and mentioned specially that dessert should not come before the Peking Duck, which we're still waiting for. 15 minutes later, the dessert started to arrive and we were still waiting for the Peking Duck. Oh well, they didn't listen.

Terribly difficult to flag down a member of staff to speak with them. Not just us but I see plenty of other tables waving hands and menus in the air to try and get their attention. We've had to walk to the staff at the terminal to speak with them at least 5 times now for various things (including to place our order - I had to personally walk to the staff who was tapping at the terminal).

Fine if you take this as a cheap, casual diner but not if you take it as anything slightly respectable as the branch at Alexandra House in Central is. It's casual but I wouldn't call this "cheap" per se. Staff are over worked and this impairs on the quality of service. Once the place empties, the staff themselves are fine.

Nevertheless, extremely disappointed by the service, but will I be back? I might not have many other options.

$275 per head before discount.
