Since I work on the eastern side of Hong Kong, I’m always on the lookout for some new lunch/dinner spots in this area. One day while I was shopping in Cityplaza, I saw a sign for APITA Eatery and I knew I had to try it asap! Went there today with my friends and oh my gosh, there are so many Japanese restaurant choices to choose from, not an easy decision,we ended up trying Tonkotsu 8.I was immediately enticed by their pork cutlet curry because it looked so delicious, crunchy and savoury. I was immediately enticed by their pork cutlet curry because it looked so delicious, crunchy and savoury. I knew I had to get that! I decided to add $30 to upgrade my meal to get a premium snack and drink, I decided to get Karage fried chicken for my snack and lemon tea for my drink! LUCKILY, as I was ordering I decided to ask whether the curry base has beef and it unfortunately did, so I had to change my order Honestly I was a bit sad BUT everything happens for a reason. I changed my order to the teppanyaki fried rice with char siu ($78). My friend got the fried chicken noodles ($88) with pork cutlet and lemon tea.
When I tried my fried rice, OH MY GOD, it was so delicious. The egg omelette base was one of the fluffiest yet thick omelettes ever! So soft and fluffy, melts in your mouth! After mixing everything together, every bite had so many different textures which made the meal so enjoyable. I loved the crunchy corn, fresh green onions and flavourful char siu. Another thing that I liked is that the char siu was diced but thick, instead of the thin, small pieces we usually get in other places. I enjoyed the miso soup as well, very warm in this cold weather, but the saltiness maybe a little overpowering for some people. The fried chicken + pork cutlet both were so crunchy yet soft and juicy on the inside. The noodles were so so scrumptious too, they’re dry fried noodles (no soup) and a bit on the spicier side. If you can’t handle spicy food, you may avoid this or ask for less spice. But it tastes so so good with the spice, a perfect kick of flavour!
Overall, a great place with many choices. AND, it doesn’t feel like a food court at all, because of its Japanese style interior, the wooden panels, tables, chairs and shelving. Very zen
