Boyfriend and I were in San Po Kong when we saw a huge group of people clustered around a shop with no real descript entrance. Curious we took a look and it seemed everyone was ordering a lot of chi fan from this place. The shop had no name on the front but after a bit of investigation we found it was called 豆浆大王 (English name: Soyabeans King or King of Soyabeans). From the flyer menu it said it had a Michelin recommend since 2019! Apparently for street food. Curious, we decided to order a chi fan
The shop had no name on the front but after a bit of investigation we found it was called 豆浆大王 (English name: Soyabeans King or King of Soyabeans).
From the flyer menu it said it had a Michelin recommend since 2019! Apparently for street food. Curious, we decided to order a chi fan. Menu is in Chinese only. There is no English and no 10% service charge. Currently they are doing take away only. There is no dine in service.
We ordered a chi fan ($16) and decided not to add extras for the fillings. Just go with the original roll. As it was made to order, there is a bit of a wait and the roll of rice is still warm. It's also not as big as some places. Quite small actually but fine for a small bite.
The rice was soft and chewy. The filling was a deep fried dough stick, preserved vegetables and pork floss. The dough stick was still crunchy and not too hard. The preserved vegetables were slightly sweet and had a nice crunch. The pork floss was delicious. Overall, quite a good chi fan. Boyfriend wasn't as impressed but I quite liked it. A nice little thing to grab and go.
Hopefully dine in service will begin again for them as I'd like to try the soyamilk next time.
