We tried the Chinese Style Siu Mai Platter and it was mind blowing! We didn’t know siu mai can be elevated to this level.
There are 6 types of siu mai in the basket.
Tangerine Peel Beef Siu Mai (十年陈皮牛肉焼费) - Very flavourful and it resembles the taste of beef meat ball.
Spicy Chicken Cartilage Siu Mai (香辣鸡软骨烧卖) - Savoury with a bit of mala taste that comes as a surprise but it’s not too spicy.
Black Pork and Chicken Fungus (油鸡枞菌黑毛猪烧卖) - So fragrant and the mushroom gives amazing taste to the meat.
Fish Siu Mai with Pepper (簧椒酱龙利鱼烧卖) - Fish is delicate and has a bit of spiciness.
Golden Oyster Siu Mai (金蚝发菜烧卖) - Flavour of the sea just spreads in your mouth.
Braised Quail Egg Siu Mai (卤水鹌鹑蛋烧卖) - Nicely marinated siu mai and quail egg, there is a chilli sauce inside and loovvvee the entire flavour.
Another dish to try is the red rice roll. The skin is not too thick, shrimp is coated with crunchy crumbs. It comes with 3 choices of dipping sauce (peanut sauce, sweet sauce, and soy sauce). In our opinion, this is better than the one we had in Guang Zhou.
The steamed rice with pork ribs and chicken feet is our next recommendation. Pork ribs are so tender and rice is fluffy.
The pork patty and dried squid steamed rice is also delicious. The patty is not dry, it’s well balanced with the dried squid.
Lastly, not to forget the classic hk sweet soup to end the amazing dinner. We had black sesame paste that is sooo good! Pot doesn’t usually like this but, he approved!
The sweet potato in the ginger soup is so soft and sweet. Ginger soup is just nice, not too strong.
For us, it was a perfect meal and would be happy to come back.
