Growing up, Ruby Tuesday was one of the places that my family would go to when we needed some western food (besides McDonald's ). There weren't as many choices back then, unlike nowadays and with other places like shooters 52 and Tony Roma's being gone, Ruby is one of the places left that still has a lot of childhood memories. Environment+cleanliness:
It has been a while since I have come but besides a little touch up, the restaurant looked exactly like how I remembered it to be. The salad bar was still on the left, with the bar area still behind it. The dark lighting made the environment very cozy and comfortable to be in. It almost felt like one of those cozy places you see on Christmas cards. Also, it seemed very clean as well. There was no leftover food on the ground or sticky menus or dirty utensils whatsoever.
I thought we'd receive a western kind of service where the server would always check up on us, but nope. The server didn't even have a smile on her face and act if she didn't really care. Also, we had to ask her for refills for our drinks and when we did ask, it took her forever to.
Taste:
The four of us started with a regular appetizer platter with our choice of 4 items($178). We chose calamari, onion rings, potato skins and chicken tenders. Potato skins have always been my favourite so of course they were delicious, but if only they had green onions sprinkled on top, they would have been even better! The calamari was good too, they were cooked just right and not chewy at all. The chicken tender was juicy and tender and I love the honey mustard sauce that comes with it. haha As for the onion rings, they were nice too and not greasy. Overall, I would recommend getting the platter if you want a bit of everything.
Ever since Ruby Tuesday started their club, the prices of their food has continued to go up. Luckily, my dad had the 50% card or this bill would have cost us over $900, which is really unreasonable for 4 dishes plus a cup of Iced Tea. I wouldn't dine here if I had to pay full price because it just isn't worth it. I could go to Outback or other places and it'd be cheaper. It's sad because I really like this place not only for its food but also because of the memories. After this meal, we decided not to renew the club card once it expires.
