Its a cafe with quite stylish decor and situated in the corner of busy streets near Wan Chai MTR station. The cafe cum bakery shop bears its chef's - Gerard Dubois (I thought so at that time) name which seems to be a French, so i think quality should be guaranteed and tried it out. (I checked out that he is a Swiss and not a French afterwards)I had a piece of their signature cake Passion chocolat, which overall speaking was acceptable, but the cake base (sponge cake) was a bit soggy. I had a piece of their signature cake Passion chocolat, which overall speaking was acceptable, but the cake base (sponge cake) was a bit soggy. The quality of the cake was marginally compatible to that of Agnes b, Paul Lafayet or Le Gouter Bernard (LGB).
As the cafe's coffee machine was broke down. I ordered a cup of ginger twist tea - Mighty Leaf teabag which was of good quality. But I did not satisfactory with how they served the tea. They just gave you a cup of hot water (which was actually not very hot) and a teabag, and the customer has to put the tea bag yourself. This is not a prefect way to brew a cup of tea. Second, they charged extra $6 for honey! Moreover, the customer has to pick your own plastic cutlery in a self services counter. That's not customer friendly, not hygienic and not environmental friendly.
I recalled that The Open Kitchen at IFC which charged a cup of tea at a price less than this one, and they served milk and honey in separate little beautiful jars without any additional charge. The Open Kitchen would also give the customer very decent and proper (not plastic please) cutlery together with the food and drink ordered.
I noticed that Staff team, including the cashier looked tried
and unfriendly. The boss and management should think something to cheer them.
