I already started openrice this bakery since it's under renovation. Seeing there are few branches of this bakery and the bake goods look pretty attempting, I was pretty hopeful for their products. First time visiting, I decided to try their traditional sesame bun (which is my favourite), fruit scones, chocolate mini cake and lemon tart.
Sesame bun was claimed using Japanese bread flour. Bun was doughy with a slight sticky crust. I guess the stickiness was to keep the sesame sprinkled. With a hint of saltiness and nuttiness from the sesame, it was not bad. Another compliment I would like to highlight was the bun wouldnt collapse after your bite. It would still keep in shape after every bite and even overnight, it kept in shape.
Fruit scone was in a pretty worth deal 3 for hkd15. It wasn't too sweet but definitely could taste the milk. Dry fruits were blended or chopped in pieces before mixing into the dough which was thoughtful that they wouldn't stick on your teeth. Texture was silky but not crumbly. Unlike traditional but good enough with this price. It was pretty good!
Chocolate minicake was more in a dark chocolate side. Fluffy and moist. Extra chocolate chips on top added extra crunch and sweetness. A nice quick snack.
Lemon tart was a surprise. I was expecting something like a baked lemon curd/ custard tart but it was a lemon cheese tart. More on a Japanese style. Light cheesecake flavour with a hint of lemon. Cookie crust wasn't too crumbly. As I was consuming the next day, crust was a bit on a soft side which was totally acceptable or even heat it up in the oven can be fixed. Overall, a surprise and I will get it again.
Staff were helpful and thoughtful. The cashier packed the bake goods well and thoughtfully especially purposely placing the lemon tart on top of all buns and ensuring all buns are placing flat at the bottom to secure the tart.
As it's a rainy day, staff were also busy with mopping the floor and placing mat at the two side entrance to avoid slippery. Helpful and sweet.
Honestly, this bakery created a warming purchasing experience. In addition to the quality of the bake goods and their variety, I will for sure come back again.
