I decided to come here for lunch as I noticed it had some positive reviews and I'm always up for a new lunch spot in Causeway Bay.The restaurant serves "continental cuisine". At least that's what it said on the entrance. Which is a round about way of saying "European food". Decor of the place was dark and dated. The place was full but I was still able to get a table. I was greeted by a waiter who poured me a glass of hot water and told me he'd get me a menu.
Five minutes later, no menu was given to me. Finally, after trying to get the waiter's attention, I was given a menu followed by apologies all over. The lunch set is choice of main, salad, daily soup and coffee or tea. I chose a pan fried halibut fillet with mash and spicy cherry tomato coulis ($130). I asked what the daily soup was and apparently, it wasn't just one soup but a choice of three (cream of brocolli, onion and lentil soup). I chose onion soup because it's the name of the restaurant, right? Bread basket was given to me. It included a breadstick and two slices of fococcia. Bread was not warm. The bread was ok. Nothing to write home about. Salad and soup was placed on the same plate. Soup was in a tiny little coffee cup. Salad was roasted pumpkin with parmesean dressing. Salad greens were crisp. Roasted pumpkin was sweet. I noted there was some crumbled hard boiled egg white which was nice. Sadly, the parmesean dressing was bland. It needed a touch more seasoning.
