Utterly disappointing!

This is the first time (and probably the last time) I visited this restaurant. As we thought this is the sister restaurant of Grand Place in IFC which we have high regard, we went there for a change last Sunday evening not without high hopes. This is the first time (and probably the last time) I visited this restaurant. As we thought this is the sister restaurant of Grand Place in IFC which we have high regard, we went there for a change last Sunday evening not without high hopes. Unfortunately, we met our first disappointment right at the beginning! The lady at the reception was talking to someone over the phone in a very low voice without lifting up an eyebrow throughout her conversation. She stood expressionless and was running her fingers up and down the seating plan while murmuring so we were not sure if she was receiving a call from a customer. She could have the courtesy to pause her conversation and then told us politely to wait for a while or seek help from other waiter to attend to us. Alas, we were simply transparent! A waiter did come out of the restaurant, stared at us briefly, filling in a form of some sort and went back in. We were equally transparent! We had kept standing for over 3 minutes and could continue in such a plight if not a friend, who had already secured the reserved table and happened to come back after visiting the toilet which was outside the restaurant, signaled us. So we were led to the table by our friend! She said that the same lady's face was as black as coal when she and the other friend arrived earlier. So much for the wonderfully cold reception!

Come what next? We asked the waitress who attended to our table if there were mussels (this was on the menu), the answer was a short, crisp, “no”. We then asked if they did Belgian waffle, she simply shrugged her shoulder, turned her back and walked away -- no reply!!! We eventually called her back and settled for the set menu. To do the restaurant justice, the food arrived quite promptly and systematically but - the soup (cream of mushroom) was lukewarm and so was my main dish - King prawn with sole fillet. The tea was not hot enough. As for taste, frankly the food was quite tasteless. The good sign was that it didn't use too much MSG.

By the time we left, the place was full and there was a queue of patient customers. This was also the best time as surprisingly, we got a big smile and an audible “thank you”from the lady receptionist! Given the quality of the food and service, I wonder how long it could sustain its business!
