Yes, you heard right. A vegetarian buffet.

There are two branches. One in Tsuen Wan and one in Kowloon City. As boyfriend is from the US, he was curious about this concept so we decided to go to the Kowloon City branch as it was nearer to where he lived.

The Kowloon City branch is located in the basement of Kowloon City Plaza. The only mall in the vicinity. The buffet is time limited for an hour and a half. As we were there on a weekday, it was $168. You pay when you enter and then you just grab a plate and go!

The Vegan food triangle. I had no idea about this. The regular food triangle, yes. Vegan one, no. Informative.

The buffet area is on one side. A few pictures to let you know. Just to let you know that everything was labeled but only in Chinese. So, if you can't read Chinese, then just be adventurous like I did.

They had a salad bar with a variety of different salad dressings. I noted they had items like beets that was a bit different than most salad bars. The salad dressings were all cream based ones (or maybe yogurt based as it is Red Mango).

They had a row of hot items with induction heaters turned on to keep them warm. You can also order certain items they have on display from the kitchen as those are made to order.

The little appetizers section.  They also had soup and rice for those that want that as well.

But of course, as it is is Red Mango, they had frozen yogurt machines with two flavors. That day it was original and mixed berries. They had toppings but it was pretty limited. This section also is where you can get drinks (something that tasted like watered down ribenna and mixed fruit juice along with tea and coffee.

It seemed that the food edged towards Thai style.  I wonder if it is due to the fact that there is a vibrant Thai community in Kowloon City?

As the food was fairly good, I had a few items that I felt were worth a mention.

This is some sort of vegan seared tuna. Interesting and it had the same texture as tuna.

This was the most bizarre thing ever. A vegan sea cucumber. The bizarre thing is it had the same texture as one and it looked like it.

Chiu Chow style vegan oyster congee. This was amazing. It had the same taste as oyster congee. I was astounded.

What would Red Mango  be without the froyo? I tried both flavors. I wasn't a fan of the mixed berry one but the original was pretty good. It was a bit icier than what they sell at their shop in Megabox. There wasn't a lot of topping choices.

For vegetarian buffet, it was pretty inexpensive. The food was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised. Staff was friendly and explained what was in the food. Would return again if my vegetarian friend wants to somewhere to eat.
