It has been a while since we have Korean BBQ buffet, thus I decided to research to see if there were any nice ones around. In the end we opted for Dong Dae Mun Korean restaurant as the price was reasonable and near my workplace. It was located at Yau Shing Commercial Centre, a minute walk from Mongkok MTR.It was huge and spacious, able to accommodate around 130 person. Ordering of food was pretty straight-forward. There were stack of paper sheets placed on every table, for us to tick. There were several varieties of food such as meat and vegetables etc. If we wanted to order something outside their buffet menu, we can do so by paying for it.
Besides those food on the order sheet, there were food and drink stations where we can take ourselves too. They provided soft drinks, beers, soups, desserts, sushi, appetizers such as kimchi and pickles, rice and fried items etc. There is a wide spread of selection for us to choose from.
Shortly after we have ordered, the waitress served us a plate of prawns, clams and pork belly, stating that it was complimentary for every table.
Kimchi was slightly spicy and sweet, crunchy as well. Bean sprouts were juicy and long in texture. Toasted bun was soft and crispy, going well with the condensed milk provided. Seafood pancake was flavourful and fried rice was fragrant, slightly tough though.
Prawns were fresh, thus it was still juicy and chewy. Clams were soft and juicy as well. There were alot of fats in the pork belly, thus it was oily and chewy, and it go well with the lettuce. Ox tongue was thin in texture, and it was tender and chewy, oily as well.
Thai style lemongrass pork neck was chewy and thin in texture, with the marinated sauce making it tasty. Beef ribs was soft and tender as well, and pork chops were juicy and sweet.
Capellin was easily cooked, as the meat will break open at times. The meat was soft and smooth. Thai style curry chicken was marinated till flavourful and juicy, with slight curry taste.
Overall, the standard of food was acceptable and the staff was quick and attentive enough to keep collecting those finished plates.
