We were lucky enough to stumble upon Ganbei last night and are so thankful we did.This restaurant/ bar is the perfect combination of the two. We enjoyed every mouthful of food. So much so that we ordered a second round of dishes even though we probably didn't need to eat any more... but when the food is this delicious... and only bite sized.. well, you get the picture...
We had the fried oysters (juicy, not at all over crumbed), chicken skin yakitori (don't judge us! so worth the calories!), ox tongue yakitori, fried chicken (think KFC then times the deliciousness factor by a million and minus the grease by the same), and asparagus with bacon (hey, we had to have some greens!). Every single item was well presented and fantastic. So we ordered a second serve of the oysters, asparagus with bacon and ox tongue yakitori. Nom Nom Nom!
They also had a beer promotion - buy 2 get one free. This may well have encouraged me to have one too many - but hey, what the heck! I needed something cold and refreshing to go with all the fabulous food.
Do your taste-buds a favour. Should you enjoy yummy Japanese food head into this place. You won't be disappointed. The price was also very reasonable at $600 HKD ($82 AUD/ $77 USD approx.) for all that food and 6 beers (2 being free). Totally, absolutely worth the price paid. Highly recommended!
