We’ve been fostering a dog from Hong Kong Dog Rescue for a few months now. Except the one time when I took the dog to a Dai Pai Tong near to our home for a quick lunch, he’s never been out of the neighborhood. The rain on this Sunday ruined our original plan to go hiking, so why not visit the On Dog Dog Cafe?I have been to this Cafe before with my dog-loving friends to see the huskies. This time, bringing along a dog who’s not very good at socializing with other dogs, I was a little bit anxious.

I have been to this Cafe before with my dog-loving friends to see the huskies. This time, bringing along a dog who’s not very good at socializing with other dogs, I was a little bit anxious. But NO, anxiety is NOT allowed in this Cafe. Their dogs are well-trained, and if the owners perceived any trouble between their dogs and guests’ dogs, they would lock away their dogs (I’m sure they are well compensated), or even provide on the spot training (to the human and the dogs), which is SUPER helpful. So don’t worry too much. Plus everyone there loves and knows about dogs, providing a truly dog-friendly environment for humans and dogs to chill. As a pet-friendly restaurant, they are PERFECT.

I visit upstair cafes for the space to meet with friends, never for the food (typical HK dilemma). On Dog Dog Cafe’s human food are slightly above average, quite limited options, but enough to cater for everyone’s preference. I always order iced chocolate with mint syrup, french fries, and spaghetti bolognese - they are my all-time comfort food. The iced chocolate is super nice, fries are fresh, and the spaghetti is served straight from the oven. It’s like hanging out at your friend’s place, and they cook for you. But after all we don’t come to taste delicacies but to have a fun time with dogs! On the other hand, they make absolutely WONDERFUL dog food - the young lady who serves you and tell you about the animals is the genius who make all the beautiful and healthy dog treats. It’s Christmas time, so they now have themed treats like red and green lollipops (chicken meat, with beetroot and spinach for the color!) and snowflake cookies (too pretty to unwrap! So my dog hasn’t tasted it yet. But I’m sure it’s super delicious, just like the lollipop).

I would definitely recommend this place. Treat it like a place to meet and make friends.
题外话/补充资料: I recommend calling them before you go to make sure that they are open, and check if the dogs are there so that you don’t go and realize they are off to Sai Kung!
