We came to dine on a Friday afternoon. It was around 1pm, and it was a quiet afternoon and there were plenty of seats available at the Conservatory Sai Kung.There were 2 of us, and we had 2 dogs with us. We asked politely if dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area, the waitress said it was OK, and arranged us to be seated, in the 4-seater table in the middle.As we were about to place our order, the westerner couple next table reflected to the waitress that they are allergic to dogs’ fur. There were 2 of us, and we had 2 dogs with us. We asked politely if dogs are allowed in the outdoor seating area, the waitress said it was OK, and arranged us to be seated, in the 4-seater table in the middle.
As we were about to place our order, the westerner couple next table reflected to the waitress that they are allergic to dogs’ fur. The next thing we know is that we were asked to leave the restaurant!
This is ridiculous! The worst part is how the waitress and the manager (the waitress went to her manager before asking us to leave) dealt with this problem. There were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant and they could have arranged seating better (neither of our tables had food served at that moment), or they should be able to deal with troubled customers!
Imagine the situation otherwise, if it were the westerner couples who brought dogs, and HongKongers who complained, claiming to be allergic, We are pretty sure they wouldn’t dare to evict the westerner couples, based on their attitude today.
Researching online, there were multiple negative comments on their management and service attitude and discrimination.
What they have been doing to customers and how they have been dealing with problems is really problematic. I don’t believe this is acceptable, especially when we reflected the problem, there has yet been any response from the management or owner.
IF, dogs are not allowed, even in their forcibly occupied outdoor seating area, the restaurant should have let customers know, and they shouldn’t have invited customers with pets to be seated at all.
This is extremely humiliating and is not at all acceptable.
We are sharing this experience lest others will be mistreated in this restaurant again.
This is not an individual incident as there were similar problems with the service and problematic management comments all over the internet.
