Tai Kok Tsui is a district that is mostly associated with industrial buildings & factories. Because of this, the price of dining here is generally cheaper than other areas. Today, i was out doing some shopping with gf around this area, and i have always wanted to try on this eatery ever since they have gotten a Michelin star. Soupreme is located just between of Mongkok & Olympic MTR, within 5 minute walking distance from Olympic MTR.
When we reached shortly reaching 2pm, the shop was already packed with people. Luckily, without waiting for too long, lunch crowd people soon began to disperse and we had the luxury of dining on 4 people table all by ourselves. Shop size was a little cramped, only being able to accomodate 16 people.
The star attraction of this shop, without a doubt was their soup. They offer lunch set for consumers, consisting of soup, some side dishes, rice or noodles & drink. For people ordering their set meal, price of dishes was cheaper than ala carte by $2 to $4. On a side note, to entice customers to come during their tea time from 2 to 6pm, price will be cheaper by $3.
MACA - We were quite surprised to find that the serving of the soup was quite huge, given the price. The staff was attentive enough to know that we will like to share the soup, so he offered us a small bowl to share. True enough, they did not add in any seasoning. There are alot of ingredients in it and was very nourishing. I heard that this soup helps to increase energy & stamina, as well as reinforce kidney.
Matsutake - Matsutake is a form of mushroom, generally used for soup. As it is not common, price was slightly higher than most mushroom. Soup was very clear, rich in protein as it's benefits.
Since we are going for healthy meal, we go for their brown rice as well. Luckily, brown rice was sparingly mixed with the white rice, thus i could still accept it, being not a very big fan of brown rice. Rice was fragrant and soft, portion was big as well.
Beancurd - Soy sauce was added to it to enhance the taste as beancurd was tasteless. The texture was slightly tough, but still acceptable.
Cool Chicken Wing - It was an interesting dish as it was served cool. It was cooked with rice wine as well, to bring out the smell of the chicken as well. Wine essence was fully absorbed by the chicken, thus it was very tasty.
Stewed Ribs - Ribs was a mixture of lean & fatty meat. It was stewed till the meat was soft, able to chew easily.
Apple Hawthorn Tea - This drink is a must order, especially during this humid hot weather in summer season. It is very refreshing, sweet & sour. It can help to reduce blood pressure, especially useful in this hectic society.
Almond Drink - This drink take quite a while to serve as the staff really blend and grind the almond hand-made. I could already smell of the strong almond when served. It was very healthy and sweet. 张贴
