For once in a very long while, Hubby was able to get off work 6 o’clock on the dot!Yesterday when we were in Harbour City we felt like Crystal Jade, unfortunately it’s near impossible to get a seat after 1pm or after 6:30pm there. So we decided to go to Telford’s crystal jade. Got there at 6:45pm and it was still empty so we walked straight in. Zero waiting time! ^ ^For those of you who don’t know, the Harbour City branch doesn’t accept any reservation, but Telford and other branches (not sure
Yesterday when we were in Harbour City we felt like Crystal Jade, unfortunately it’s near impossible to get a seat after 1pm or after 6:30pm there.
So we decided to go to Telford’s crystal jade. Got there at 6:45pm and it was still empty so we walked straight in. Zero waiting time! ^ ^
For those of you who don’t know, the Harbour City branch doesn’t accept any reservation, but Telford and other branches (not sure which ones) does. Comes in handy when you need a table for 12! I love soup and in Crystal Jade the hot and sour soup is a must have item for me. Usually order the soup or soup noodle and tonight I picked noodles! This soup is full of yummy goodness with pigs’ blood(猪红), bamboo shoots (竹笋), Chinese black fungus(木耳), strips of pork meat (肉丝), pig stomach (猪肚), tofu (豆腐丝) and of course chilli and rice vinegar. It’s a delicate balance between salty, sweet, hot and sour.
My hubby being “Western” normally does not like noodle soups or any soup really. But when it’s thick soup like this, and it being hot and sour, he has slowly become to like it, blood and all.
To be honest the strips of pork belly and blood really just tastes like pork. So for those of you with offal issues, please do give it a try~ or you’re missing out big time!
We also ordered pork bun (生煎包), Clear fried prawns (清炒虾仁), Choy Sum (菜心)。 (Not their official English names.. sorry) The noodle soup is enough to feed me, and being a soup monster having 5-6 little bowls of soup is nothing. But I did have a few prawns which are cooked nicely, just cooked so it’s still smooth and a bit crunchy. I did not eat the bun so no comment. Hubby loves bread and that is his “must have”.
Did not have room in my tummy to fit Xiao Long Bao this time. Will order it and have soup only next time.
$314 for the whole meal.
