I have always been eager to try out "韩味 Taste in". Due to the inaccessible location from my home, I have never really managed to take some time out for a try. Today, I decided to give it a go. Afterall, I'm a Korean food craver (as well as K-pop!)!I read about "韩味 Taste in" from 饮食男女 the food magazine months ago regarding the promotion of Korean culture and food. From the article, I noticed that this restaurant was opened by a young Korean guy. He himself managed to be the boss of the restaurant

From the article, I noticed that this restaurant was opened by a young Korean guy. He himself managed to be the boss of the restaurant - taking every little details on board from the interior design, menu and food monitor. I was very pleased to read such passionate story from young entreprenurs like him. Perhaps this was the reason that I've always been wanting to check his restaurant out..
Atmosphere: Stepping into the restaurant, everything seemed very stylish to me. The black wallpapers, the wooden tables, the various sizes of photo frames and most creatively, the packages of snacks and biscuits on the wall were all very memorable for my experience in this restaurant. I could tell that whoever designed this restaurant had a very unique taste and fashion.
Flipping through the MENU, there were not a lot of choices comparing to the Korean restaurants in TST. However, you could tell that the dishes were the most 'typcial' ones that you could get from a Korean restaurant - quite a few of them were classic homemade dishes that every Korean restaurant would offer. The photos were colourful and attractive...all so tempting that took us a while to decide our order!
Food: The side dishes arrived first among all dishes, as usual for any Korean restaurants. The portion was right as we got to have a try of every single type. The dishes were freshly taken out from the fridge so that the juciness could immediately unlocked from individual food. The young korean guy who opened this restaurant was there when we visited (!!). Likewise his interview with 饮食男女 the food magazine, he was very enthusiastic in helping us to refill our side dishes! I could feel your passion boss!
The barbeque beef was refreshing! The beef was very sweet! I tried making barbeque beef at home and I knew that in order to keep the beef juicy and sweet, you needed to marinate the beef with either pear or apple juice. For this dish, I was certain that the cook added a lot of pear juice to sweeten the flavour. It was very nice to eat the beef along with the plain rice. I also liked the slices of orange placed by the side of the beef to clear your mouth after the strong flavour of meat.
Next, the spicy seafood tofu pot. One word: AWESOME! One of the best I ever had, comparable to the tofu pot I had in London's Korean restaurants (they had a fame there) and 仁沙洞 in 土瓜湾!! It was spicy but very delicious when you mixed it with rice. Mixing the egg yolk into the soup enhanced a fresher flavour into the tofu and seafood. Though this dish would be better eaten in winter! YUMM!
Along with the main dishes, we each had a bowl of rice and soup. The soup was cooked with seaweed, chicken cutlets and slices of onions. Very simple yet healthy. And of course, free refill of soup and rice!I did not know that the restaurant closed at 3pm for a break as I was enjoying the food slowly and wholeheartedly. Though it was slightly pricey for a lunch (same applied for nearly every Korean restaurant in town), I guess I would return in the future. Given that it was not too far away from college and the passion in servicing the customers from the young Korean, I would continue to support "韩味 Taste in" in the coming future!
