It’s my second time at Sushi Hiro and I still really enjoyed the dinner even though omakase, entrusting the offering to the chef’s hand, wasn’t an option to me due to a 1-hour time limit (the seat reservation was placed quite late, ie about half an hour earlier).I ended up with the HK$500 set. I ended up with the HK$500 set. Nothing was especially special here but just the basic good and yummy raw fishes that were really fresh. The texture was not up to the spectacular level, IIRC, vs. what I had at Sushi Imamura a long while back but it’s not a direct comparison between set and omakase though.
Sushi was a star last night and the rice really complemented with all the seafood they served.
Other dishes in the set were also good. Both the grilled fish with salt and the fish in miso soup have a pleasantly cleaned taste and filling with just enough bite of salt. The peach ice cream I had was not totally bad but nothing to write home about.
The weak point was the rush to get food over within an hour as the soup came quite late after the chef started serving sushi. It’s partly my fault so I don’t count that in.
Also, some indicated the lunch menu as a value alternative. To me, the lunch is OK for the price but is not anywhere near the quality of its dinner offerings. I would instead call this dinner set the value for the money considering the $ and the quality of its offerings.
