Was meant to go to the more famous shop up the street but that was fully packed. This shop was also packed, but the outside pictures looks kinda attractive. Without the ability to go online first and check Openrice reviews, I wandered in to take a gamble!红烧砂锅翅 - 凤尾翅 $60 -This is the most expensive option for the 红烧砂锅翅 series. This is the most expensive option for the 红烧砂锅翅 series. The photo and the description promoted this as pretty 真材实料. However, even before we received this order, I already overheard the next few tables all complaining about the lack of Fins (not even sure they're from endangered sharks!) and the amount of starchy curds in it.
When this arrived it had a still boiling murky top, and when it finally cooled it carried so many pieces of coagulated 豆粉 from the uneven addition of starch water as a thickener... it was yucky! There was also less than half the advertised pieces of crappy fins than the photo suggested.
浓汤花胶鸡煲翅 $80 -
This was even more hilarious!! Look at how big the pieces of fins and also the 花胶 were in the external picture. When mine finally arrived, the whole thing became just a bowl of soup but nothing much else! I digged and drilled, even did a radar search of the entire underfloor sea bed and only managed to salvage 1 piece of small fresh rather than dried fin and 1 piece of poor quality fish maw. And there was 1 hairwidth like tiny strand of Yunnan ham as opposed to the many strands shown on the photo. There was a small quarter of a thigh of chicken. What a major dishonest act and rip-off by the shop.
**********
EVEN NOTICED THE COOK INSIDE MOPPING THE FLOOR AND STIRRING UP THE DUST DURING THE SAME TIME HE WAS BOILING UP THE NEW BATCH OF FINS FOR CUSTOMERS! DISGUSTING. DON'T GO, UNLESS THEY IMPROVE SUBSTANTIALLY.
