Traditional Chinese cafe is becoming rarer and rarer in Hong Kong. Although there are cafes with a traditional atmosphere, it gives the customer a phoney feeling, but "Ho Gau Kee", which is located at Tai Wong Street West is a Chinese cafe which has a great traditional feel. \r\n
"Ho Gau Kee" is a very small cafe. It only got 12 tables and the place is always full during lunch hours. Customers normally order typical Chinese cafe food from the restaurant: 'Instant Noodles with Luncheon Meat', 'Instant Noodles with Seasoned Diced Pork', 'Roast Beef and Egg Sandwich' and so on. \r\n
\r\n\r\n
\r\nHowever, 'Honey Buns' and 'Honey Toast' are something that you cannot miss. A thick piece of honey toasted raisin bread, with a spread of butter, sweetened-condensed milk, peanut butter or 'Kayang' is how the 'Honey Buns' are made. It is enough for a lady with a small appetite. \r\n\r\nThe milk tea from "Ho Gau Kee" is of high quality and is tastier than ever because it is made using the traditional Chinese method of boiling and mixing of the tea.
Their chicken wings are also an appetizing dish. It is not something that you can taste in other Chinese cafes. The chicken wings are marinated with garlic and then stir fried, giving it a home-made flavour! People who are often around Wan Chai or Admiralty should come and have a try.
\r\n\r\nFor those who are nostalgic about the old tradition of Hong Kong, "Ho Gau Kee" is the right place for you!\r\n
