Long time no congee and long time no Shau Kei Wan. Such combo made a visit to this branch of the famous congee restaurant in Shau Kei Wan a good timing. It was not a simple congee restaurant but served a lot of other food including different 小菜.Their lunch sets offered much better value for money with a congee including a side (cheung fun or fried noodles) and a hot drink or soup of the day. We couldn't not encore this 生滾貴妃雞粥 because it was their signature! There were around 8 pieces of chicken, including chicken leg, wing and breast, which were all very well seasoned and rich in chicken flavour. The chicken was to the salty side which was very good to eat with the congee. The congee itself was very 棉 and smooth. The fresh chopped spring onion on top was a very good flavour enhancer.

The shrimps in the 蝦腸 were quite crispy and meaty while the rice sheet rolls were reasonably smooth! There were two shrimps in the cheung fun on top and one each for the two cheung fun at the bottom.

There was no need to pay anything extra to get a 熱豆漿. It was sweet to the right degree.

香脆炸兩腸粉 was my favourite dish but not every restaurant could satisfy my requirement. Portion was so big as the three cheung funs were all very thick! It was very good as the rice sheet roll was reasonably thin and smooth yet the 油炸鬼 inside was still very fresh and thin and crispy. It was good even without adding any sweet sauce to it, although I did haha. It was really highly recommended to 炸兩 lovers.

Then here we go the Chinese fried dishes. It was so freshly fried that we could really feel the 鑊氣 from the food! There were a lot of 黃膳 cut into small pieces. They were super elastic! Even the bones were edible. There were loads of accompanying sides like sweet peppers, onions and spring onion. The whole dish was well seasoned. Definitely encore-able!

Another fried dish was quite good too! It was a very appetising sweet and sour yet slightly spicy fried dish. Portion was big as there were quite a lot of beef slices which were reasonably tender. The purple ginger was those red sliced pickled gingers which seemed similar to those for sushi. The loads of pineapples made the dish quite appetising. Other accompanying ingredients included a lot of sweet peppers, spring onion and onions.
養顏蛋白杏仁茶 $16
I had wanted to try this in so long and finally it was in stock. It was still quite warm when we started to eat it after finishing all the mains. It was not those very rich type of almond tea but the flavour of almond was acceptable. It was definitely not too sweet. There was a whole egg white inside.

薑汁紅棗糕 $16
Portion was great as there were 4 big pieces. It had the perfect elastic and chewy texture. The flavour of red date was quite good with some minor ginger flavour. It was a very good dessert of great value. Highly recommended.
We were basically satisfied with all of our orders this time. Nice quality of food, especially both 2 Chinese stir-fried dishes, 香脆炸兩腸粉 and 薑汁紅棗糕.
