It was our first time to visit 北角匯. I used to spend quite a lot of time here before this 北角匯 was established and I felt really mixed that this place had changed so so much. We toured around 一田超市 and found this small counter specialising at 玉子. We decided to give it a try for lunch.Each of us ordered a mains + a 玉子. There were no seats and we had to find the seats at the mini food court just next to the food counter. The food was brought to us so that we didn't have to wait in front of the counte
Each of us ordered a mains + a 玉子. There were no seats and we had to find the seats at the mini food court just next to the food counter. The food was brought to us so that we didn't have to wait in front of the counter.
That said, we did spend some time to watch how the chef made the 玉子 for us!

鰻魚玉子 arrived first, freshly made with steam flowing out. The eggs were so good, smooth and slightly sweet but definitely not over seasoned or overly greasy. I would say it is really hard to find such 玉子 of such quality here in Hong Kong nowadays.

樱花蝦玉子 was the second item to arrive. Again the steam was flowing out when it was served to us. It really burnt my mouth! I had to admit that this one was really even way way better than the 鰻魚玉子 because the sakura shrimps were mixed well with the eggs. Truly recommend this to you.

Now that could you tell that we really craved sea eel? This 鰻魚麥飯丼 was served to us very hot too. The sea eel was great as you would have expected. I would like to highlight the surprises: the eggs were really good because they were hot and freshly made like those we just tried - definitely not those cold shredded egg slices you would get out there; and there was 麥飯 mixed with plain rice which definitely increased the 口感 of the rice box. There was sufficient amount of sea eel sauce to finish the whole box of rice. Really one of the best sea eel don I had ever tried.

As we were big fans of sea eel, the other mains we ordered was 鰻魚咖哩飯. Again the sea eel was great - this slice seemed to be even bigger! The curry sauce was good as you would expect - typical Japanese curry sauce. Again the rice was 麥飯 mixed with plain rice. There was some salad with sesame dressing on the side too. Yummy!
Truly a great place for 玉子 lovers! Next time should try out those Japanese omelette rice. I could tell that the eggs must be really impressive!
