Heard great things for their buffet and came to try. Sad to say I was very disappointed and left unpleased.
Located right above the main lobby is Tiffin. Not even their own restaurant, more of a lounge. I did enjoy the live band right down the stairs that provided none stop entertainment throughout the night.
Dinner buffet for adult $788+1
The food selection is very limited with seafood, some hot plates, lamb shank, beef Wellington, fish and chips, foie gras, soup, salad, cold cuts, fruits and their tiny dessert station.
First off, the seafood station is very disappointing. They had two choices for oysters, which were nice and fresh but not that plump. The shrimps had very thin and soggy shells (obviously not fresh) but size is adequate. The mussels are really sandy and grainy, not good at all. Crab legs were okay, not very fresh.
However, right next to the seafood is their soup station. Tonight’s was a lobster bisque and this was absolutely delicious. So aromatic that the smell bombarded me when I opened the lid. It’s not thick but still rich and intense. Also does not have cream which usually covers the lobster taste. This is so good with their sliced bread and breadsticks right beside.
Following on is their hot dishes, there was a grilled shrimp with mashed peas that is so so good. Peas are perfectly seasoned and sweet, shrimp is plump and juicy. The grilled scallops with cheese next door is also not bad, but very small.
Opposite the stations are round tables with some hot dishes too. The slow roasted chicken, grilled sea bass and Mediterranean mussels are my favorite. The chicken is tender but bland. The sea bass is flaky but a bit dry. The mussels are dry but the sauce is fantastic. The veal cooked in white wine is very dry and tough.
The beef Wellington is cooked well with a nice buttery pastry crust but beef is not well seasoned. The best thing here are the roasted carrots and celeriac. Carrots are very crunchy with an amazing char. Celeriac is pretty raw in HK and I absolutely love it, outside is crunchy and inside is soft and silky like a potato-carrot-eggplant. Next to it is a roasted garlic head which is absolutely adore too, roasted so it’s tender and flavorful and not spicy at all. Another star dish is their baked eggplant with mozzarella and basil, the eggplant is fried then baked so its silky smooth and their tomato sauce is so rich and just tomato-y.
Their foie gras toast has a slice of apple in it which definitely makes it less greasy and more enjoyable. I personally wish the toast is thinner so I don’t only eat and taste bread when taking a bite. The portion is quite generous as some even has two pieces of foie gras on it. Eating 3-4 pieces will make this dinner more worth it.
This dinner also comes with a lobster per person and a set drink. The lobster can be cold, grilled with herb butter or cheese. I opted for half cold and half herb butter grilled.
Their dessert section is limited but the items available are quite unique and elusive. For example, they had canneles, madeleines, meringues on one side; an ice cream bar with a plethora of flavours not limited to: peanut butter crispy bacon ice cream, valhora chocolate, kyoto sorbet, banoffee pie, egg tart creme brûlée, apple crumble rosemary, milo ice cream and black sugar ginger ice cream; also a pastry/cake section with green tea opera cake, cheesecake, passion fruit cream puff, pear panna cotta, apricot tart, blueberry pavlova. And last but not least, their very own waffle station that produces 2 inch thick waffles that are chewy and fluffy. I tried the peanut butter bacon ice cream and it was actually tasty, the nutty ice cream pairs well with the crispy salty bacon bits. Their various sorbet are also fresh and icy. I recommend eating the waffles with ice cream for the best experience.
The set also comes with a tea/coffee per person and I recommend getting their pear green tea. It smells like pear tea which is very refreshing and aromatic but tastes like green tea with that distinct bitter/tartness. I also managed to refill the pot 3 times and it is still as rich as the first.

💬 Overall, this place is very overrated. The food selection is small and only a few dishes taste good. Only their hot dishes and desserts are worth it and if you love seafood, do not come here, you will only be disappointed.
The price also doesn’t match up to quality or quantity. Better go to Langham, Peninsula or Mandarin for their buffets.
Moreover, their service also had a great impact on my experience. The waiters and servers were very attentive to our needs and removed plates a few seconds after we were done to ensure it is no longer needed which I appreciate as sometimes I want to reuse that plate. One particular older waiter also helped explained the tea choices and gave useful insight on their house blend tea. However, a chef manning the carving stations saw me take photos of the hot dishes and came up to me to tell me not to take photos at all. This not only confused me as there was no one else around me that I was bothering and I was not up close with the food that I would contaminate it. I complaint to the manager and they said that the chef has received many complaints as he is rather old-fashioned and is not used to the modern era where people take photos of everything.
