Our destination today is Teakha, located on Tai Ping Shan Street (pretty much what we got in hand only). Equipped with google map, we are good to go.Oh Lord, stairs…..and more stairs. Finally (after being like a tourist, asking help for directions, despite the fact that we are 100% locals), we reached Tai Ping Shan Street. When you see the green teapot, congratulations, choosing what to order from menu is the next and only challenge ahead!
Decorated with flowers and wood, the cafe is warm and cozy. Definitely the place you would want to linger. There are not much seats left but we still manage to find one or two in no time.
We thought about having Masala Chai but gave up and decided to go for safer choice.
Green tea cheesecake, Keemun Rose Tea and Sea Salt Yin Yang. The lady gave us a square thing. It vibrates when food is ready.
There is a second entrance to the left where more seats are situated.
Apparently, the second floor is a lot quieter. Gentlemen in suits and ties are talking. I guess they now ditch doing the business talking in a fancy restaurant because the coziness of a small cafe adds confidence in negotiation? And a lady with headphones on is typing frantically. One thing I noticed: green tea cheesecake seems to be everyone’s favourite.
IT. VIBRATES.
The Yin Yang is like any other Yin Yang in Cha Chann Teng. What makes it different is the sea salt. It adds texture to it. Not bad but not impressively good.
The cheesecake is superb! Not hard like a New York Cheesecake. Not soft like a Japanese Cheesecake. It is in the middle and the balance is quite right. The taste of cheese slightly outweighs Matcha, but not too heavy. It is a delight to pair it with floral teas.
The Rose Tea took a bit longer but totally worth the waiting.
It is decorated with rose petals. drizzle with honey. Tea is hot enough. My throat is filled with aroma of rose. And it is not artificial at all! This sweet drink is recommended to all ladies. Simply irresistible.
