It's getting harder to find good Thai restaurants that are not generically decorated, with the same tasting food and same surly waiting staff. We've walked past this one before and although it doesn't have the authentic "look" (wooden statues and golder elephants, or a thousand pictures of the royal family), the reviews had been encouraging so we gave it a try.The portions here are mighty big for the price - the two of us only managed 3 dishes when normally we could easily notch up 4 or 5. The portions here are mighty big for the price - the two of us only managed 3 dishes when normally we could easily notch up 4 or 5. The green curry chicken came in a hot clay pot, and although the colour was a little too verdant, it tasted fresh and mildly spicy, and it seems they used fresh chicken meat rather than fresh frozen from the texture and the fatty bits. The baby kale in mixed sauce was good, and the sauce was not too salty as to overwhelm the palate and leave everything else on the table tasting bland. The pad thai was a pretty big dish, but the noodles could have been a bit more al dente, though otherwise you couldn't fault them for getting the flavours right. The longan drink was WAY too sweet and the waiter kindly gave me another glass of ice to water it down. The service was prompt and unintrusive, and the attentive waiter put down extra tissue and filled up our glasses of water without prompting. The prices are good too for the portions they were serving. When the weather gets cooler it would be great to sit outside as well, but for now we were quite happy to be seated indoors with the TV and air-con.
