I love dosa but can't claim to be a connoisseur since I have never had one that I didn't like. So me saying the dosa here was good doesn't tell you much. But it was good. I love dosa but can't claim to be a connoisseur since I have never had one that I didn't like. So me saying the dosa here was good doesn't tell you much. But it was good. Crispy and stretchy/spongy, good flavour. The sambar and chutney had nice flavours and nothing too, too hot.

Service is what stood out. I am often the sole Westerner in South Indian restaurants (and local Chinese ones, etc.) and it's interesting to watch how that's handled. For the restaurant it's a balancing act. If they are too helpful, I might be insulted. If not, I might feel awkward. Sangee that struck the balance. Help was offered but not pushed. The older gentleman who seemed to be the owner or manager gave me a tip on traditional technique for tearing the dosa but did it in a way that didn't imply I had been "doing it wrong". Hard to describe how he achieved that but it worked.

The dosa was good but the masala tea was stand out. A bit spicier than most, with just a hint of sweetness. I don't always put sugar in masala tea and when it's presweetened it's often too much, overpowering the tea and spices. Sangeetha's was perfect. Just a hint of sugar with strong tea and spices. A very small serving (maybe 4 ounces?), served in a metal cup. Just the thing to top off a light meal.

Masala Dosa

這是我每次必點的~Dosa是那個大的煎/炸薄米卷

如果有留意印度菜的都應該見過它吧~

Masala就是黃色的那小盤,其實是薯仔,也有一些洋蔥,青豆等

叫它把Masala分開~正常它們會把Masala放在Dosa的中間

但是吃的時候會很不方便,Dosa也很快會"淋"

分開了可以慢慢吃,自己把Masala夾在Dosa中間

Masala 的味道比較偏向港人口味,加上Dosa的香脆(是比較油的),吃起來很香口

至於另外那3個種汁,大概是你order什麼也會有的

其中2個好像分別是番茄和椰子,剩下的就不太清楚

我吃的口味比較淡,這3個汁我也不喜歡︿︿

是炸的印度餅,比剛剛的DOSA會較"煙un"

非常香的油味,而它的配料是青瓜和豆煮成的醬汁

這個醬有點像蕃茄口味,有大量的豆,容易入口

加上印度餅的香脆,很好吃~

是蒸米糕,什麼味道也沒有,咬著咬到最後還會有一點酸酸的味道

印度人很喜歡它們的汁,所以都是沾那3種汁吃的

但我個人就不太喜歡了

甜甜酸酸好好味~

如果想吃印度菜又怕重口味,不妨試一下Masala Dosa和Puri~~~

雖然比油一點,但真係幾好味~︿︿

**店內也有一個位置可以洗手,飯前和飯後也很方便

Weekend去尖咀食lunch,又想搵個無甘多香港人同無甘迫的地方同朋友吹水,甘就稔起呢度。香港好多印度餐廳menu都中、英並列,圖文並茂,但呢度之前黎,佢地d menu係好唔食客friendly的,少圖之餘,又無中文,而英文就係寫返仍地印度食物的英文,小女子都係靠果少少記憶同認知去叫野食,所以都以印度人食客居多。而今次黎,佢地個menu轉左好食客friendly,仲請左個香港人做待應,方便溝通。待應哥哥仲非常認真同有禮,要讚一讚。呢度其實之前個價錢都算同同類餐廳比係偏貴少少,轉完menu同提升左之後,連個價錢都提升埋。印度野食係幾飽肚,所以叫野食切忌眼闊肚窄。叫左個青椒煎餅,雖然只有一塊,對細食朋友黎講都幾夠飽。講返個煎餅,即叫即整,餅面鋪左青椒絲同香料,看似單調同唔材料唔多甘,但其實佢真係做到底面都微脆而內軟,口感一流,跟餅仲有椰子醬、豆湯同咖哩可以沾黎食,所以食落都係好層次分明,食完真係大滿足。不過個椰子醬黎講,就覺得唔夠椰香,但都叫合格。之前飲過呢度Masala tea,香料味係比較重,今次黎飲,感覺上佢個口味無之前甘重,個人都係喜歡之前個口味多。今次黎的確係見多左印度人以外

今次黎的確係見多左印度人以外的客人。順帶一提,呢間係素食餐廳。另外,如果要洗手,門口右邊有洗手盤,佢地亦有濕紙巾提供。

Initially I ordered the jain set meal but the waiter recommended the tiffin set meal instead (he said the Jain meal wasn't as varied or interesting), so I followed his advice and ordered the tiffin set.

The most exciting thing about this dish was that it comes with a mini dosa. I love dosas but having one all to myself seems like maybe not the best use of stomach space when visiting an Indian restaurant. The dish was served very promptly (I think maybe the dosa was the only thing which had to be prepared freshly and the rest they probably prepare large quantities of at the start of each shift).

The total contents of the set meal were:

* uppma/pongal - a kind of savoury overcooked rice. This was lightly spiced and had a wholesome, filling feeling.

* idly - a kind of bread/cake thing made by steaming a lentil and rice mixture. The idly itself is pretty flavourless (that's normal), but the soup-like condiment it was served with had a nice, hot, spicy and tomatoey kick to it.

* medhu vada - this doughnut like object is actually savoury despite its physical resemblance to something sweet. I wasn't too keen on this, there wasn't anything wrong with it but it was a bit not one thing and also not the other, the texture wasn't doughy or crispy, it was mildly savoury but almost could have been sweet, my least favourite part.

* mini masala dosa - this was delightful, I enjoyed breaking off bits when it was fresh and crispy. The chutneys which came with it added a nice extra layer of flavour and the potatoes inside were mildly spiced, satisfying and just how I like them.

* kesari/sheera - this was the sweet part of the dish, sweet, sticky semolina with the odd hidden piece of cashew nut. I actually ate this mostly at the same time as all the savoury items but the sweetness was pleasant and the slight hint of nutmeg stops it from becoming cloying.

The restaurant started to fill up as I finished my meal but the staff were very welcoming, not once was I hurried, asked if I'd fished or pushed into ordering further (last week I dined at a Moroccan place in central where the staff were very, very aggressive to the point where it felt extremely uncomfortable), I was allowed to sit alone at a table for four with a mostly finished meal until I had enough space in my stomach to finish it. But when I was ready to pay a member of staff appeared to clear my table and direct me to the cashier as if he had been watching the small signals.

Near the counter they had a cabinet selling a range of curious looking sweet foods. They looked like they would probably be too sweet for me but perhaps I will try some next time.

呢個 set 包括一塊炸薄脆 (papadum), 兩塊烘麵包 (chapati) 或炸麵包  (puri) , 乳酪撈飯 (curd rice), rasam 撈飯 (Rasam rice), 香料煮雜豆 (Dal Makhani), 香料煮豆角 (Bodi Masala), 香料飯 (Pulao rice), 同埋用粗麥粉做既橙色甜品 "Sooji Halwa". 差唔多可以話係一個全飯宴. 塊薄脆同炸麵包都係新鮮出鑊, 脆口又有嚼勁; 乳酪撈飯冇多餘o既奶味, 淡得o黎好清新; Rasam 撈飯就好似中菜o既湯飯, 冇太重香料味, 醒胃之選; 煮雜豆同煮豆角雖然冇哂o的洋蔥蒜頭薑打底, 但仍然做到幾濃郁o既香料味同質感, 撈香料飯食當真唔錯; 最後o既橙色甜品 Sooji Halwa, 甜味恰到好處, 唔會甜耶耶, 係好好o既 round up.

個人覺得, 呢個 Jain set 好有莫名其妙o既潮州人堅毅 feel, 可以好清好淡, 但同樣可以食得好開心又豐富, 係食得過既!


Overall 總結: 呢間餐廳賣o既係高質素o既南印度食品, 地點舒服, 價錢算公道. 餐牌內仲有好多地道菜我都好想試, 所以對我o黎講就一定有下次.

想試o下不同口味o既印度菜, 尤其係南印度o既特式小食, 呢間亦係城中罕有既好選擇! 抵讚!

After being to Bangladesh, I fell in love with anything to do with Dosa and after investigating found that this restaurant has a variety of Dosa.

To start with, the place looks like a fast food joint with the basic chairs and table. Nonetheless, they were very welcoming. We asked them for recommendation and noticed that everything on the menu was vegetarian. Anyway, we ordered Masala Dosa and Roti something and some naam bread.

Even though everything was under $100, our bill ended up to be $5XX for 4 persons. There was no meat but just alot of bread and dough that kept us full. The dosa was not made to the high standard that I expected although the presentation of it was really impressive.

We did feel abit ripped off as we noticed that our version of the dosa was a stale version when compared the the table next to us whose dosa was not only bigger but also crispier.....a indian family sat next to us.

Must be quite authentic since 90% of the place was filled with Indians.

It was a brave move to open in the same location as the iconic Woodlands restaurant, but if anyone could do so successfully, then the Chennai chain Sangeetha would be the one.We went with an Indian colleague who recommended the place and got very friendly helpful service.  We really wanted to try the pongol, but unfortunately it is only served at lunch time.  That was fine though and we ordered masala paneer, idly, naan, podi dosa, upma, vegetable pulao, a lassi and a chaas.  Everything was grea

We went with an Indian colleague who recommended the place and got very friendly helpful service.  

We really wanted to try the pongol, but unfortunately it is only served at lunch time.  That was fine though and we ordered masala paneer, idly, naan, podi dosa, upma, vegetable pulao, a lassi and a chaas.  

Everything was great, but in particular, the podi dosa (a Jain dish) was very good with chili powder on it and great sambar.  The paneer was rich and spiced well with a lovely flavour.  The upma, a classic semolina breakfast dish, was fabulous - we want to know their secret!  

I particularly enjoyed my chaas, a savoury drink made with the buttermilk left after churning. I like chaas because it is not thick like a lassi, but has a spiced salty flavour.

We had a really nice meal at Sangeetha and we will return to try the pongol one lunch time.  The price was decent and we spent around a hundred dollars a head.

Mini tiffin was very good all the items (idly, dosa, sweet, pongal, vada) were fresh and tasty. Sambar was amazing, tasted like the original one in my home town (Chennai/madras) from where sangeetha is originally.
Slowly the place got crowded and was almost full around 1:30.
Our last order was few coffee and tea (indian-chai), was serverd pretty fast, coffee could have been better. but overall was ok compared to any other place.
The standout was definitly the choice of items and the perfection in taste like the original restaurant.
Also to mention that there is no other Authentic "south Indian" restaurant in Hong Kong of the same level.
Saturday 13th - Dinner - 4 people - Average cost - 125 hkd/person
Items ordered - 4 mini tiffin, 2-Sambar Vada, 1-Dosa, 3-coffee.
When we entered there were not many people (7.30pm) and got our first order really quick.
Food was not as good as previous day, but acceptable, and tasty. The issue was, couple of the items were not fresh (kesari and pongal)
As time went by the place turned into a mad house, all the tables were full, and they were grossly understaffed. It took us about 45 mins to get the next order we placed. They lost the bill once and returned to check the order.
題外話/補充資料: - Food is very good. Keep up the job. Try to make it fresh for all the meals. - The space inside the restaurant is luxury as per HK stds. Where there is usually no place to walk in between tables. Here it was neat and spacious and well designed. - Cost is little on the higher side. But considering that they don’t have any real quality competition, we have to accept. - Their only competition is right opposite to them on same floor, and the food is terrible there. - Very few staff to handle the crowd. Probably it was just the first week and they were not prepared to handled it, or did not expect it.
