With my all day snacking, I decided to head home for dinner with a light salad. I passed by Arome Cafe and saw they offered take away salad. For two choices, it's $42. For three choices, it's $58. Here they don't offer their salad by weight but by choices and the container it goes into.I decided to choose three choices: pumpkin potato salad, pesto pasta salad and a sweet corn and bacon and orzo salad. I decided to choose three choices: pumpkin potato salad, pesto pasta salad and a sweet corn and bacon and orzo salad. The staff whipped out a regular size cardboard container that was not too big. And then she started to scoop the salad in. She kept filling and filling the box, pushing to every single corner, filling up every little space. I was wondering ... is she going to stop?
When she handed it to me, I thought ... wow. There's a bit of weight here. I tried to hold only the bag but after a walking around all over the MTR station, I had to hug it tightly to my body as it was getting really REALLY heavy. Boyfriend laughed and said ... is it really that heavy? I let him hold it and he said "WOW! It's really heavy. Probably at least 500 g."
When I got home, I took it out of the bag and I noticed the rectangular container was rounded out. Lifting open the lid, salad practically flew out. It was that packed. Curious who much it actually weighed, I took out my kitchen scale.
Yes, people. There you have it. 1 kg worth of salad.
Now this is definitely value for money.
