差不多一星期會去天后二至三天揾食, 昨天行經電器道突然眼前多了一間cafe, 於是望下貼在玻璃上的歺牌, 原來是食法式crepe, waffle類食物, 都是小妹至愛. 頓時己决定一試.店子細小, 有4人抬, 吧枱, 枱与枱之間都算擠迫.  午餐選擇了Crepe with sunny side egg, parma ham and swiss cheese+coffee or tea.crepe底都幾有疍味,薄薄地, 不會太厚.  太陽蛋都幾大隻, 底層鋪了瑞士艺士, 芝士味並不太濃, 但配合蛋一起吃都幾有口感, parma ham就比較份量少了一點, 食不到火腿的咸香味.  隨餐飲品要了Americano, 可形容為甘,香,濃,不是一般咖啡豆.

Artisan, according to Merriam-Webster dictionary, is "one that produces something (as cheese or wine) in limited quantities often using traditional methods". How misused this word has become? Especially on the food scene? Artisan bread. Artisan cheese. Even Burger King came out with an "artisan burger". People hear the word "artisan" and they think ... must be elitist and good. And so we come to this place that calls itself "Artisan Cafe". Does it serve hand roasted coffee beans?? I don't know.

Located in Tin Hau, near the wet market area, is a small little coffee shop. It's super small with a few tables and chairs with a bar table in one corner for the barista and a small open kitchen in the other corner. You order and pay at the cashier and wait for your order.

Their menu, placed on a clipboard, comprises of waffles, burgers, crepes and grilled cheese sandwiches. They served various coffee varieties along with tea.

Sitting myself at the bar to watch the barista in action, I ordered a cafe au lait and an all day breakfast.

Cafe au lait ($42). Only in Hong Kong can I order a cafe au lait at night when it's only served as a breakfast coffee in France. Seriously, I was mocked as a tourist in France when I ordered one at night. The coffee was French pressed. A nice shot of hot milk was also added to the coffee. It was a nice ratio of milk with coffee where the coffee was not diluted away with the milk. It smelled fantastic and went down smooth.

All day breakfast ($98). It included a waffle, scrambled eggs, side salad, sausage and mushrooms. I was asked if I wanted syrup with my waffle and when I said, yes, I was given a whole big bottle of pancake syrup to drizzle to my hearts content. The waffle was alright, but not great. It was crispy at some parts but not all. Some parts of it was chewy. Salad was seriously under dressed. Mushrooms were not seasoned. However, the sausages were fantastic. I loved the taste of  herbs in the sausages and the size was small so ok for me as I  can actually finish them. The scrambed eggs were great. They were light and fluffy with a wonderful addition of herbs. Perfectly seasoned. It's been a long time since I had good scrambled eggs in Hong Kong.

Service was friendly. Though, I should note, opinions of the staff should be kept to themselves until all customers are gone. Like after work. There was an incident where one customer complained to the use of cold milk instead of hot milk. Sitting at the bar, I overheard the staff mumble together that person was a wannabe know it all. Then later when that customer left, they mumbled some more that person probably only drank at Starbucks. To me, that is highly unprofessional. It doesn't matter what the customer thinks because the customer is always right. If staff doesn't like it, they keep their mouth shut, smile and say "We will look to improve on this situation. Thank you for the input." If they disagree, they wait until they get off work to do so. Not in front of other customers. I may not work in retail, but my profession is similiar where I deal with "customers" of a different sort every day. And I come across similar type of "customers" every day. I smile, suck it in  and complain about it after work. I hope they improve on this aspect.

Food is a bit hit and miss. Coffee was excellent. I'll be back to have their other coffee selections. Perhaps try a grilled cheese sandwich as well.

[Flat White] with Skimmed Milk $38

小妹不常喝Flat white, 原因是在香港不太普及, 只有一些個性小店有售。

Flat White是澳洲的特色咖啡, 去過澳洲旅行的朋友一定喝過不小。

先試一口沒有加糖的原味, 咖啡師稱它們由上Double Espresso, 混合四種不同咖啡豆烘焙而成,

豆身呈現深啡色, 果酸柔和, 苦味和甜味也平均, 口感很順喉, 味道也相當濃郁 。

Flat white較Latte口感更加Milky, 奶泡較小,

就算用上了脫脂奶亦沒有影響咖啡本身的醇厚感, 餘韻良久未散。

再者加一粒黃方糖再試一口, 味道沒有太大變化, 因為咖啡本身已帶微甜, 所以加糖只是滿足小妹的肆糖

心態。

唯一改善地方是希望咖啡可以再熱一點。

(一般咖啡成品約80度, 但此乃個人口味, 小妹喜歡喝得熱一些)

咖啡配蛋糕也是常識吧

Sponge cake $32

從雪櫃取出, 所以必先放焗爐加熱。

小妹選的是紅豆綠茶Sponge cake, 與其說是Sponge cake我說它是butter cake 更入形,

那貫牛油香味是最先帶出, 蓋過了綠茶芳香, 有喧賓奪主之嫌。

遇到一間岩自己口味的咖啡店和遇到Mr. Right 一樣難, 今天給的認識Artisan Café ,

我相這就是緣份吧。
