When StickSticks was first introduced next to BeardPapa in Causeway Bay, the selections have been changing day by day. Each day something different came up. And very soon all the flavours have had its way into the fridge. Quarry Bay is not that case. Only the popular sales items appear in the fridge, and apparently even those aren't very appealing at all.
'Milcrap' is a stack of piling up crepes carved into sticks stacked up against lemony cream filling. The filling is too sweet and the lemon taste is borderline fake-lemon. 'Brownies' has chockful of nuts throughout but often turned out too dry and powdery on the crust. The 'creme brulee' has a nice container but the creme is not very creamy and neither the brulee part is very burned either. 'Green Tea Tiramisu' is very green and very sweet, while 'Sweet Potato Mont Blanc' suffered from greyish purple sweet potato puree, not at all appealing to the eyes, and to the tongue too.
'Framboise' is chocolate with raspberry brandy in it. The liqueur has a light taste but sweet throughout. Perfect served with a latte. Anything with mango in it passes with flying colours, as mango chunks are sweet and sunny in the looks. 'Eclaire' is crunchy on the choux pastry and custard filling inside is moderately sweet. 'Tarte Tatin' is sweet on the apple and the pastry is light on the cinnamon but fresh and buttery. My favorite among all
Stay away from the blueberry or strawberry anything as they tend to taste overly sweet and syrupy on the topping. 'Gorgonzola', and 'Baked Cheesecake' are safe choices and so is 'Tiramisu' -- creamy mascarpone taste and texture.
Service in Quarry Bay is better and more attentive than that in Causeway Bay. But the selections don't feature a lot each day, so please attend to it early.
