Can you understand the first word? It takes us around 10 seconds to know i'ts Pisces Birthday. I am really mad at paying a high price in return with the unattractive wiritngs.
There are three birthday stars: Anita, Ben, Diana. This comes to be the most important letters yet I could barely understand the writings. Does BEN become BAN to you?? And ANITA, im really sorry that they cant write your name properly, the cursive writing doesn't seem artistic to us at all, it totally ruins our names and mood.
It tastes taste, but it can't make up to the ruined letters. No credit for the cake this time
題外話/補充資料:
Please provide decent, proper Printed words 正楷 when it comes to names, stop play with "artisitic" skills which humuliates the birthday stars. I may drop by for tea, but I will defintely not buy any birthday cakes from you again.
I really wanted to like this petite cafe as a cozy spot for quality cakes and time. Unfortunately, everything we ordered from Zoe Café was simply disappointing. We ordered the signature Zoe cake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Lychee-rose cake & Tiramisu Su from the cute window display, and opted for the Green Tea Latte to accompany the sweetness.
The big frothy Green Tea Latte was off putting. The green tea flavor was so artificial and tasted identical to the 2 in 1 Maxim green tea powder I could easily find in APITA. It was tooth-rottenly sugary and the efforts to add on a fanciful yet basic “latte art” could not help.
The infamous Zoe cake was too tasteless for my liking. Although I could taste a slight hazelnut flavor out of the sponge cake, it was so mild that barely exist. The biscuit base was soggy. I just can’t understand the hype behind this cake… Well, the smiley face on top was cute but they could do better with this price.
The Lychee rose cake was another turn off and the Tiramisu Su was only slightly better. There were no big difference between their textures, which combined lightness and moistness. The Lychee rose cake was a plain dull mousse with mild sweet flavoring that did not stand out at all whist the Tiramisu Su was a coffee flavored mousse cake instead of the proper sophisticated tiramisu (they really should rename it!). There were cloudlike and downright unimpressive.
The creamy blueberry cheesecake was a wiser decision for that day. A thick layer of blueberry jam was spooned over the soft French-styled cheesecake. Yet, I personally prefer New York style or Sicilian style which is heavier in taste and have a thicker and denser bottom crust. It was a matter of preference anyway.
The café had a lack of personnel. We had to make our orders at the counter because the only waitress didn’t know how to response to a group of noisy women who failed to make up their decisions before waiving for service. Also, we were seated two feet away from the front door with people coming in and out, which caused an immediate inflow of heat wave every 5 minutes. It was not a pleasant experience.
I think Zoe Café is now living off a reputation built long time ago and the place is certainly not a decent place for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. We were disappointed and definitely not returning in the near future.
I have to admit that the only reason attracted us to stop by here, is about its exterior and interior design. I fancy its european classy design. The service here is terribly xxx. Well, I wouldn't say they're extremely bad, but definitely not enthusiastic nor friendly enough...we stopped by here after a great xmas dinner at Happy Valley. we stopped by here after a great xmas dinner at Happy Valley. I just wanted to taste a small & decent dessert to end the night. We had ordered one latte and one flower tea, one choco flavor cake and one raspberry cake respectively.
The raspberry cake tasted good with the flower tea. A bit sour but tasted really refreshing! The latte was presented in a good way with a heart shape (thumb up). The choco cake tasted ordinary, standard choice.
A warm reminder to food bloggers here, Zoe Cafe ONLY accepts CASH, NO cards nor optopus cards are welcome. I regret I didn't look up Openrice before I came here. It was our unlucky night that we didn't bring enough cash. When we noticed it doesn't welcome other payments, I had to go to nearby ATM to withdraw $$. Waitresses here were not motivated nor helping out to point me where the nearest ATM is... Well, I didn't expect it doesn't accept cards, even COVA does... anywayz, just it was an unlucky night.
When I returned with CASH, I felt like I was urged to pay by the attitude of the waitress. Well, I still wanted to 'enjoy' my last taste of tea since I ran back. I felt terribly poor customer service here that I felt being treated like 'dust'...
apart from this poor experience, the overall feeling of the cakes and drinks here are fine. A bit pricey though... two cakes and two drinks costed HKD16X....
