Another cute little restaurant in the Pun, owned by a Shanghainese family. They've actually got many other nice reviews here at OR. BUT, with the MTR opening soon and the exit is right outside the store... I can't help but worry about their rent. They serve $38 lunch combo, including soup; as well as many other shanghainese snacks. p.s The wife apparently knows EVERYBODY. The husband is the wonderful cook. They are noisy, but friendly and most importantly serve good, authentic home-cooking. What more can you ask for from a family?!

Every time I take a taxi back home in Hong Kong, I kept seeing this yellow sign with red writing "小上海" (translated as Little Shanghai). I love Shanghaiese food, so I have been dying to try this place.Finally, there was this day my MIL actually ditched me for lunch, so I decided to walk down to First Street to 小上海 for lunch! It was such a hot day but I really really wanted to try their Shanghaiese fried noodles $42 plus their boiled veggies $12.When the dish arrived it looked a bit oily, but it certainly wasn't when I took a bite. There was a lot of crunchy veggies amongst it as well, it was delicious. I love the slightly chewy Shanghaiese noodles, and polished off this plate in no time!The veggies are just simply boiled, not very flavoursome, but it was perfect for me... Made me feel a bit healthy kekekeke.. Well, until I started putting chilli sauce onto the veggies I also decided to order a cup of cold soy milk drink - the soy milk was icy cold and flavoursome - it absolutely hits the spot.After I went on my merry way back home, I couldn't forget this little shop, so I went back the next week with hubby.Hubby ordered their set meal with mapo tofu, rice and soup HKD$38. I tried some of the mapo tofu and felt that it was a bit bland and the tofu doesn't really hold well. The flavours are ok.I would love to order the Shanghaiese noodles again, but decided to try their Shanghai wonton instead. Perfectly wrapped, the wonton skins are slightly thicker than the ones I was used to but it was even more delicious that way. The insides had a perfect balance of pork and veggies, it was deliciousI completely forgot to take a pic of our last dish, which is a stir fried capsicum and shredded potatoes HKD$52. It was delicious and crunchy and fantastic with rice.I seriously love this homey little place which is run by a husband and wife team. So it isn't the bestest food in the whole wide world, but there's just something about it that made it so special that makes me want to come back again and again. 7.5/10

一個人散散心,走到西環找美食去~行上斜坡,找到這間上海小店~ 見沒有太多食客,便推門內進~店內不大,有數張枱,有電視機~ 店員似是一家人,雖說是餐廳,但覺得比較像進了一家人的家吧~看看餐牌:已經決定了, 最出名的煎雲吞($35)及紅豆春卷($20)~那年輕的店員很有禮貌地問我紅豆春卷要一齊上還是之後才上,我說一齊上吧~ 雖然只是一條小小的問題,卻令我覺得很貼心~由於是即製的關係,等了15-20分鐘,才端上美食~首先是 紅豆春卷($20)共有3條小小的紅豆春卷,咬開一半,紅豆分量剛剛好,不會太甜,紅豆與春卷想不到這麼配,脆脆的,可是春卷皮有點兒太厚了,但總的來說很好吃~煎雲吞($35)Wow! 熱騰騰新鮮出爐的食物最好吃!但奉勸一句,還是不要太心急個人是比較不喜歡沾醬汁或醋,因為覺得原汁原味最可口!咬下去,想不到還保留了少許汁,香濃的餡料,香脆的外皮,wow! 剛開始以為自己吃不完8隻雲吞,但實在太美味了,一口接一口,不消一會便碟底朝天吃畢,帶著滿足的笑容及肚皮離開了這小小的上海店:)

還記得在下有篇文章說過,以往都會來到西環,尤其是西營盤和堅尼地城。初時都會覺得沒有太多東西可供選擇,可是最近卻又多了機會到來,而且卻又發現多了食肆進駐。除了有新的餐廳外,其實還有一些街坊小店,卻又好像被遺忘般。最近不停留意西營盤和向西的食肆,看看有否啱心水的餐廳。當在下行到第一街的時候,卻又發現了一間很平常,也不起眼的小店,名為小上海,在下以過客般走進店子,她真如其名是間小店,坐位不足二十個食客也只是幾個而言。從餐牌裡,沒有華麗的食物,賣的只是大路上海食物,豬排菜飯,紅燒獅子頭,餃子,擔擔麵,以及標榜上海人做的家常菜。其實在下也不是經常嘴刁的人,來一個普普通通的午餐已經很好了。餐湯是冬瓜湯,但餐牌卻寫著美味靚湯。雖然湯中沒有薏米,只有兩片冬瓜,味道淡淡的,但是外邊天時暑熱,來喝一口冬瓜湯,無疑是可以消消暑,降降溫吧!上海菜除了粗炒外,菜飯也是特色,來一個洋蒽豬排菜飯,既傳統又可多一點菜食吓。大堆洋蒽把豬排覆蓋了,而且還被炒過,香濃而軟腍,豬排沒有被炸過,只是煎熟了便上碟,沒有香口的感覺,也不見得鬆化,只有的軟腍。自家製製豆漿豐有豆味,冰凍可人,也沒有豆漿粉,不算太甜。小上海只是一間小小店子,做的只是街坊生意,因此餐費也很親民。雖然是一間街坊小店,但卻又有點人情味,在下只是路過,順道吃一頓午餐,但是女店主卻又好客不得了,還了請了在下一粒糖,雖然在下與店主素未詌面,但如此贈送了一粒糖,也不是甚麼名貴的糖果,這實在令在下感覺到小店的人情味。

最近迷上了捐窿捐罅尋找隱世美食,記得早前瀏覽網站發現西環的「小上海」,腦裏突然閃起到此一遊的衝動,今天便即興爬上位處半山的第一街,光顧這間名不經傳的街坊小店。對於遠離居所的西環向來認識不深,但這陣子無意間頻頻來到該區開飯,好像是一種奇妙的安排。花點腳力由長命斜東邊間剷上第一街,遠處就看到「小上海」鮮黃耀目的招牌,靠此引領找到外觀樸實無華的舖頭。店子面積細小說不上有任何裝修,簡簡單單地放著幾張摺枱膠椅,頭頂則透著光管通明的燈火。不知道冷氣是否正在開放,只見掛牆風扇不停轉動,電視則播著《城市論壇》維園阿伯的爭論聲,好一個典型的家庭小店格局。之前食評提及老闆娘親切熱情,是日光顧卻未能感受得到,反而為客人落單的男子顯得有點冷漠。舖頭主打平民上海菜式,最經濟實惠的莫過於客飯套餐,小菜、白飯連例湯也只售$36,其餘麵食和炒飯等亦是三四十元左右。盛得滿滿的西洋菜湯率先送上,若靠單人之力把整碗擺平,恐伯無法消耗緊接的食物,還是兩人分享更為妥當。菜湯的溫度頗高只能細啖慢慢喝,油光滿面的關係要用羹舀起肥膩的一層。素知西洋菜湯具清熱潤肺、健脾養胃的功效,然而這煲調味過重鹹度稍高,感覺上不太健康。烏卒卒的糖醋排骨粒粒體型小巧,醬汁的份量恰到好處,剛剛足夠包裹肉塊的表面,不會出現太濕太溜的情況。可是糖醋的味道較為清怡,個人喜愛酸多一點甜多一點,這樣應該更能刺激胃口促進食慾。排骨的肉質略為堅硬和嚡口,需要花點牙力方能讓骨肉分離,大大降低菜式的美味程度。另店家毫不吝嗇地自動配上大量蔬菜,可惜今天的白灼津白並非小妹所好,觀其發黃的顏色已叫我敬而遠之。套餐的白飯可加$6轉菜飯,小店所用的米粒較一般肥大短身,見其濕潤的外表還以為會很腍軟,入口卻又覺得不難接受。蔬菜的份量落得非常慷慨,幾乎每一口都有豐富的纖維,菜粒切得大片不會過份細碎,配合充滿油香的白飯粒,簡簡單單已覺可口。冷盤燻魚有單件和整份出售,小試牛刀只叫了一塊品嚐。熟悉小妹的朋友都知我是魚痴,眼前的燻魚不算切得厚身,不費吹灰之力已能將之幹掉。被醬油醃過的關係魚身呈現褐色,雖然是冷盤卻沒有凍冰冰的感覺,是處於室溫的理想水平。魚骨不多而魚肉有點乾巴巴,醬油的味道輕輕地在口腔遊走,從沒讓人留下深刻的印象。看見年輕的店員在廚房對外包水餃,為食的小妹又忍不住落柯打了。白澄澄的上海水餃麵賣相單調,四隻餃子脹鼓鼓十分飽滿,其外皮沒有北方做法般重殿殿,順滑之餘帶點煙韌。菜肉餡料比例參半不鬆散,調味溫和不怕搶去豬肉的鮮美,咬開時豐富的肉汁緩緩流出,剎是新鮮又美味!上海麵條軟扒扒缺乏彈性,煮後有點糊身很易滯口,湯底也被漿至泛起膠質,可是沒甚味道感覺挺怪誕,此時惟有呼喚靜候多時的豆瓣醬打救,這款鹹中帶酸的醬料香惹非常,為平凡的麵條帶來點點色彩。據聞小店的甜品紅豆春卷乃人氣之物,那又怎能錯過?一客三條的春卷炸得不油不膩,外皮比平日見到的厚得多,感覺就如吃著餅乾一般。紅豆餡料極為充裕,磨得幼滑味道不過甜,較在上海酒樓嚐到的豆沙鍋餅更見優勝。唉!又有小昆蟲在桌面經過,這兒的衛生情況的確需要改善呢!雖然是日午膳豐富需要捧著肚子離開,然而菜式的質素與期望相距甚遠,心裏不禁有點戚戚然。其實每次進入陌生的餐廳,都是抱著搏一鋪的心態。今次,我賭輸了!
