Saw Kung has a wide range of cafes to choose from but this, in particular, had a long queue so it has to be good right? After a brisk walk around Sai Kung, we wanted to go to a bakery and wind down with some nice desserts. Saw Kung has a wide range of cafes to choose from but this, in particular, had a long queue so it has to be good right?
This cafe is very small (which could be why there is a queue) with 3 tables and a bar. There is nice outdoor seating for you to wait at or even dine at if you want.
I do want to note that there is a server which is very passive-aggressive. The air-conditioner is located right above us and we asked for it to be turned off or fixed at a certain angle as to not blow directly on our heads and he was already showing some attitude about it. Moreover, we were a party of 4 and asked for some water, he had the audacity to give us 3 cups because he thought ‘some’ meant 3 😑
Anyway, on to the food. We waited for a solid 20 minutes for them since they are made to order.

Mixed Berries Dutch Baby Pancake w/ Tofu Ice Cream $68 +$22
The presentation is very nice and the taste is not bad. Like a normal pancake but much thinner and crispier. It is drenched in syrup with didn’t make it too sweet, perhaps the pancake itself is already not very sweet. But having the berries did make it more vibrant but they don’t wash the berries, simply put them on from the box.
You can choose to add ice cream if you want and we chose tofu instead of vanilla and this was the best thing I’ve eaten in this restaurant. The tofu flavour is very strong and fresh and the texture is like gelato, bouncy and not too creamy. Not too sweet as well, perfect with the pancake or by itself.
Portion-wise, it is quite small to share between 4 which is why we ordered 2. I highly recommend adding the ice cream which is given generously.

Fig Dutch Baby Pancake $68
The pancake is the same but with fig, walnut and honey. The fig is not too sour nor sweet, nice balance with the pancake, The walnuts are crunchy but lack flavour and the honey is sweet and malty. I prefer this over the mixed berries which is sweeter due to the icing sugar.

Matcha Latte $38
A much better latte than I expected. The matcha flavour is very strong and overpowers the milk (hard to find). The heart on top was a bonus as well but it seems they are inconsistent with the art as other photos on Openrice boasts a beautiful flower/leaf. But overall not bad and certainly better than Starbucks.

💬 Overall, not a bad cafe to seat down and enjoy tea time at. The prices are also pretty good given it is in an urban area.
