I first went to this place after some research on good 'Sichuan' style restaurants. Weirdly enough, most of them are in HK side. Last time I went, I booked in advance as I heard this place gets pretty crowded. As a result however, we had to have a minimum spending of $100 p.p.This time, I took the boyfie with me to see his verdict on the level of spiciness this place offered. We did not book and when we arrived at the place (~ 6:15PM) there was barely anyone there. We ordered the pork dumplings
This time, I took the boyfie with me to see his verdict on the level of spiciness this place offered. We did not book and when we arrived at the place (~ 6:15PM) there was barely anyone there. We ordered the pork dumplings in special broth (not spicy), the boyfie opted for the Dan dan min with level 3 'spice' and I ordered the same noodles I ordered the first time I came here, braised pig intestines with black bean sauce and leeks (I am super addicted to intestines especially the fried street food kind, wink wink~). The lady told me this was 'ma lat' (she said this the first time I was there.. Do I look like the type who can't handle my spice?? ). In addition to this, the boyfie ordered Lemon grass with lime and Sichuan sauger (I do hope this was a type-o because sauger is some kind of freshwater fish, and the taste of the drink wasn't fishy at all). I chose their bestseller, soya bean milk with cucumber (It tastes better than it sounds, I swear!).
Our drinks arrived first, and our food after 10 minutes. The boyfie's bowl and serving looked quite small but he was pleased with the taste. Apparently, level 3 is not as spicy as he thought but when I made him try mine, he said it was very good. Yes, it was . Love how after a few mouthfuls, I felt that all too familiar numbness on my lips. The soyabean milk was refreshing and helped drown the spice when it got too intense. Our pork dumplings arrived after another 10 minutes and it was nothing special hence I forgot to take a picture.
Overall, I now always think of this place when I want super spicy Sichuan noodles (with pig intestines!!). If there was such a place in Kowloon side, I would definitely try it out as well! The cost was pretty average. In total, we spent $197 for 3 dishes and 2 drinks. Not bad although the Dan dan noodles portion could have been a bit more.
