鮮芋仙 (English name: Meet Fresh) is a huge dessert chain from Taiwan with branches found throughout Taiwan and around the world! Famous for Taiwanese style desserts like shaved ice, it draws quite a lengthy line at all hours. The first branch in Hong Kong is in Causeway Bay but now they have other locations and more coming soon. After opening for more than a year here, we finally decided to brave the lines and give it a try.Menu is in English and Chinese. English menu is available at the cashier s
Menu is in English and Chinese. English menu is available at the cashier so do ask for it. There is no 10% service charge. You order and pay at the cashier where they will give you a pager to pick up your dessert when ready. Aside from desserts, they also offer drinks.
Be pre-warned .. the desserts are huge! The good thing is there is no minimum order charge so you can share.
And so we ordered a Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice ($52) and added taro ($6) as an extra topping. It came out like a mountain of ice! It was glorious! Your eyes literally light up like a child opening a Christmas present. The ice was wonderful. Soft and flavored well with the condensed milk so you still had flavor with every bite instead of like most places where you just get flavor on the outside and then unflavored ice afterwards. There was a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top with a drizzle of brown sugar syrup. The mochi was fabulous, soft and chewy with intense flavor! There were two kinds: brown sugar and milk. The yellow ones were sweet potato mochi balls stuffed with taro paste. There were also lots of mini taro balls. The added taro paste was soft and mushy. It was sweet and cold. Perfect for the hot weather outside. But after a while of eating, the two of us started to struggle to finish. It was so big! And so cold, I started to sneeze. It was still perfect for after leaving, my body became a walking air conditioner as I slowly thawe out under the intense heat outside. Would love to come back if the line isn't too long.
